Confusion with Clear Blue Advanced Digital Ovulation test...

This is my first time using the Clear Blue Advanced Digital Ovulation test (I've used the First Response in the past). I started yesterday (on Day 8, as the instructions suggested based on my cycle), and got the empty circle indicating low. Today, on Day 9, I tested & got the solid smiley for peak fertility. I skipped right over the flashing smiley. Has anyone else had this happen & still managed to get pregnant? I wasn't expecting to ovulate until next week. I'm feeling a bit confused, & discouraged. Any help or personal experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, I have had that happen, and I believe it was correct, as my temps confirmed my ovulation a couple days later.

The question should be more along the lines of "do you feel the result was correct in predicting ovulation?" not "and did you mange to get pregnant?".  Other people's fertility has no bearing on your own.  

If you are concerned the reading may be incorrect, buy a First Response OPK and check with your afternoon's urine to see if it is indeed positive.

I used them for 6 days straight. They were open circles for 5 days and day 6 was a peak. I never got the few days of "high" like it said would happen. According to my bbt, I did ovulate after that. This is still my first cycle, so I have no idea if it worked I was also using wandfo strips and never got a positive with them or the regular clearblue opk. I haven't answered your question, but I just wanted to let you know it has happened to someone else. Start charting your bbt and your cm, they will also help you understand your body.

We get so many questions on these stupid advanced sticks.  I would never use them.

I am glad I used them. Since we are doing artificial insemination with a donor, I can't just bd every day or eod. I need to know BEFORE my bbt spikes. They were the only ones that gave me a positive.

Honest question… wouldn't it be better in this situation to monitor your ovaries with an ultrasound and do a trigger shot for ovulation?

Base on that, I assume you are doing AI at home?  Otherwise, I would think an RE would be monitoring that?

Yes, that is the only way we would be able to have a family. We cannot afford fertility treatments out of pocket (insurance doesn't pay for anything or even any tests if you are lgbt).

@twomommiestobe - you are right that it is super expensive. My friend and her partner are in the midst of it, and they were telling me the costs. Even WITH some insurance it is really expensive, especially including the cost they had for donor sperm. Hopefully at some point after the SCOTUS ruling this will become a little easier/cheaper.

Yes, every extra penny we have is going to legal fees. I wish we could afford testing, an app with RE, shots, meds, etc. That would be a dream come true!

This happened to me this month too actually. I haven't been temping because I only work part time in the summer (I'm a school nurse) and my temps were all over the place from my sleep patterns.

We just did the BD a lot and are in the TWW now... I can't tell you if it worked but here's to hoping!

I feel really stupid for asking, but I honestly can't come up with anything on my own....

How do you do AI at home? 

It is referred to as the "turkey baster method". You use either use frozen sperm shipped from a bank or fresh sperm from a donor (his semen in a cup). You use a needleless medical syringe and deposit the sample. Also referred to as ICI.

Same thing happened to me and one of my friends. Went from nothing to peak. 

I am using them with my next cycle but only for a reference. Will not soley rely on these as last time I did not end up pregnant.

This makes me sad that your insurance won't pay for the testing or treatment of lgbt! :-( I'm sorry for that.

My husband and I have insurance coverage for unto 6 cycles of IUI and even with that, and meds coverage, it's expensive! It is just so ridiculously discriminatory for coverage to be denied for you. I'm wondering, do they deny lgbt because it's not technically medically necessary?? I mean, that seems backwards... Wouldn't the medically necessary part = no penis/no semen?

Anyway, I'm so sorry that you're unable to see a RE for monitoring, meds, and IUIs for this. :-(

ETA: Lurker, btw! Used to be a TTGP reg but now spend most of my time elsewhere, and occasionally return to see what's up! I just wanted to express my dissatisfaction with your insurance company!

Yeah, it is not "medically necessary". (sigh) We will try this for a while and if it doesn't work, we will spend time searching for a new donor (the donor is related to my wife so the baby could share both of our genes) and my wife will try to carry.
