i just got word that if I don't go into labor naturally by Sunday that I will be induced. I'm not really looking forward to that process. The dr said it could take days. You ladies out there that were induced- how long was the process?
I was induced with my second, she was 12 days late. My experience was a good one. Pitocin started at 7:30 ish and she arrived 3 hours later at 10:38. My SIL was induced with her first and she didn't have any issues either, and was a same day delivery.
Are you dilated at all? That could change the process... My water is being broken on Thursday (due date is actually Friday). But I am almost 5cm and 80% effaced. My doctor is hoping that is all it will take (no need for medication or other intervention).
But, at our hospital, if they induce and you are not dilated, they have you come in the night before for cervadil (to ripen the cervix).., then break your water the next day... Pitocin a few hours later if contractions are not frequent enough...
I haven't yet been through it myself though. Best of luck!

---- That is the same process they described for me. As of now I am 1 maybe 2 cm dilated and about 90% effaced.
My experience with my first was over 48 hours. I was only 38w though and obviously he wasn't ready. My BP shot up though and I developed pre-e so I didn't really have a choice.
At 38 weeks with my first I was induced. Prostaglandin gel at 6pm baby was born without petocin 4 hours later. Everyone's body reacts to induction methods differently.
I'm so glad you asked this question. I am suppose to go in Thursday night at 9pm to start the cervix softening process. I'll be 40 weeks exactly but I'm not remotely dialated or effaced. I have had chronic high pb the last 2 months so they don't want me going much past my due date. But since my cervix doesn't seem to be ready at all, I'm terrified that this will be a horribly long process. I'm very scared but trying to stay calm for LO's sake.
I finally hit 8 on the scale so my OB let me schedule an induction for 40w 6d... I picked that day because she is on call and it is 3 days earlier than when I had my first so the timing should be good. But she really thinks the baby will come in the next 48 hours instead. I would be cool with that.
I was induced my first pregnancy at 39 weeks and I was only dialate to 1. It was a good 35 hour process and I wouldn't dialate past a 4 and it ended in a csection.
