Worrying...

I know there have been spotting posts before, but I haven't seen one recently, so I wasn't sure how relevant the information would be this late into things.  I felt a brief pain in my lower abdomen earlier when I went to lay down, but didn't think much of it because it went away really quickly and didn't come back.  I can still feel the baby moving, but I just noticed some light pink spotting a few minutes ago.  I did not spot at all earlier on and I am unaware of any issues that would cause bleeding.  I was planning on going to bed soon because I have to work in the morning, but I'm scared that I'm going to wake up to heavier bleeding if I don't stay up for a while and keep an eye on things.  I just don't know if I should seek emergency care or wait until morning or just wait and see if it goes away.  In the meantime, I'm wondering if anybody has seen spotting this late that wasn't indicative of a problem?

I had some light pink spotting the other day and called my Ob and she asked me to come in because I havnt had bleeding in like 10 weeks and it turned out to be nothing serious.. I would hold off till morning and if your baby wakes you up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom just check and keep an eye on it and if it stops I wouldn't worry too much.. Light pink is ok.. As long as it's not super red and active bleeding i think you should be ok!!! Just keep an eye on it and if it gets bad and is like gushing I would go to the ER and on the way I would call the on cal for your doctor.. Everything seems like it should be ok!!!

Edit because my phone seems to think shooting and spotting are the same word..

I had spotting last week the dr had me come in for an ultrasound that day but no rush (I went to work for a few hours first). My dr said any spotting or bleeding at this point is worth a call. Does your dr have an option for emergency or the on call dr when you call the office.
The dr said spotting this late is usually nothing but can also be a symptom of something more severe.
Mine turned to full on bleeding a week later and was relates to placenta previa, but they did not know I had it when I started spotting.

My OB is only open for a.m. appointments, so I can't call right now (it's 10:00 p.m. here).  I'm going to put a pantyliner on and check it periodically for an hour or two, then call in the morning and see what they want me to do...  Thank you both for putting my mind at ease a little!  Everything I find on Google seems to be indicative of placenta previa, placental abruption, preterm labor, etc., and those things are all terrifying to consider.

I would hold out till morning then unless it becomes an emergency.. With the information you gave us I think you should be ok!!! Just monitor it and I think you will be ok :)
  • My doctor is closed outside regular business hours also, but the automated system has an emergency option that an answering service answers and the on call dr calls you back. I called before 6am and had a call back within 5 minutes. Might be worth checking the message at the office says just in case.
Fingers crossed for you that it is nothing, but if you do start bleeding more and cannot get a hold of a dr, I would head to labor and delivery.

Sounds like you may have had a cyst bust. If the pain your describing was a sharp pain. Good luck to you.
  • I had spotting from cervical irritation due to BV last pregnancy. Definitely talk with your Dr but most likely it's nothing serious.
  • Hopefully it is nothing too serious!  With DS I had some bleeding that turned out to be caused by a UTI.  My OB also mentioned some other (less worrisome) things can cause spotting such as intercourse.  Do you by chance have placenta previa or low lying placenta?
  • I had bleeding on and off for a week and a half. The dr did an ultrasound and looked like there was a small separation between the placenta and uterus. They put me on pelvic rest. They sent me to a specialist but they couldn't find anything wrong. Knock on wood I haven't had any bleeding in almost a week! Hopefully you haven't had anymore bleeding.
  • Any updates OP?
  • Glad to hear that your doctor saw you quickly and all looks well! Good luck, hopefully it just goes away without any further issues.
  • Glad to know that everything is ok!!!! :)
  • Happy to hear all is well!
  • Yay! Glad all is ok.
