Cribs

My boys who are 2 and 3 years old have recently got new beds to replace their cribs but the problem is they are refusing to sleep in the beds and my partner already took the cribs to the dump. After a couple of hours of screaming they've been sleeping in our bed for the last few nights. What should I do? Are kids their age meant to be sleeping in beds. When did yours get beds? And is it normal for them to dislike them?

Did you transition them to the beds or go cold turkey? Its normally suggested that LOs start by napping in a bed first to adjust and then move to sleeping their overnight
  • We went cold turkey on cribs so I don't think that's the problem. DD was 2yrs2months and DS was 19 months. You need to be consistent and keep putting them back in their beds if you don't them in your bed. Do they have a comfort item like a blanket or lovie or stuff animal? Are they sharing a room?

  • Agree with the above.  We never did any type of transition with our daughter either.  She has gone through many phases of not wanting to sleep in her bed but in our bed/on our floor/on her floor.  You just have to be consistent and keep putting them back.  With us, it only took a couple of night of putting our foot down for it to sink in.
