High-Risk Pregnancy

Polyhydramnios - anyone else??

Hi ladies.  My ultrasound showed I have Polyhydramnios and that my baby boy is in the 95th percentile.  Maternal Diabetes test and bloodwork were normal, so my care was transferred from my baby doc to a high risk doc last week.  I'm supposed to be able to schedule an appointment with my new doc this coming week and have several questions for them.  In the meantime, I'm in limbo, praying and trying to stay positive.  Has anyone else experienced this during pregnancy?  I know it's rare, only 1% of women get it, but hoping maybe someone here can relate.  TIA ;)

  • Yep, I responded to your post in High Amniotic Fluid. Mine is high, baby is measuring big and I don't have GD. Everything checks out normal, they can't tell me why my fluid is high.

  • My friend had this, had her baby on 7/31. Cause was a dilated bowel. Baby had surgery to have some bowel removed yesterday. Mom and baby are doing well, baby was early around 34w And weighed 5lb1oz. They have some NICU time ahead, but hope to be home in a few weeks.

Thanks for chiming in. ;) I hadn't heard of that. I'm finally seeing the high risk doc tomorrow for the first time. Praying it's nothing to worry about.

I'm never sure if any pre-existing conditions relate to others that come up.  During my first pregnancy in 2007, I became Rh-sensitized and my baby diagnoses with IUGR.  She was born small, but perfectly healthy, at 39 weeks.  I had my second in 2009, seeing a specialist again because of the Rh diagnosis, which means every pregnancy is high-risk.  That time around, I was told I had polyhydramnios.  I was like - really, something else?  There were a number of times I was told he was measuring on the larger side, which of course worried me.  I can't remember what week it was diagnosed, but I was already seeing a specialist, so they kept an eye on it.  Went into labor naturally at 37 weeks and the only issue was slight jaundice with my son; he was under 7lbs.
