Show off your DIY projects for the nursery!

I thought it would be fun to show off all the projects we are making for our wee ones! Let's see them ladies! We are team green and are doing a woodlands/rustic theme for the nursery. So far I have some some art for behind the crib which we should have hung this week, re-finished a dresser and am making a quilt. Hubby is trying to find the time to make a book shelf but has just done shelving inside the closet. My dad did cut outs for a mobile we are making and they should be coming in the mail this week. I am very excited to get it finished. I have attached photos of the dresser and the art piece and will continue to update as more gets done. Can't wait to see what you ladies (and your hubbies) have come up with!

  • For DD1, I had 7 blank canvasses and asked all the most important ladies in her life to paint something floral for her room. I provided the paint colors so they'd be in the same color scheme. Her 1 great grandma, 2 grandmothers, 3 aunts, and myself all created a unique special piece just for her. They line her room. I figured once she doesn't want them hanging anymore, we can cut them off the frames and put them in a nice scrap book or something.

DD2 will have a ribbon mobile made, but I'm having a hard time finding enough different ribbon. I want a bunch of sheens and textures all within the same color pallet. The stuff is either way pricey or non-existant. I've been picking it up here and there, but it's amazing how much I'll need!

I kinda feel bad that I don't have anything very sentimental planned for DD2's room. Hopefully, some of these projects will inspire me. I am always amazed at how crafty and talented people can be!

  • Picked up a solid golden oak dresser that I antiqued with Annie Sloan paint <3 </p>

I love this! My daughter will be getting all of my husband's really, really nice oak bedroom furniture. I'm so hesitant to paint it because of the quality of the furniture, but this makes me keep thinking about painting it white. Such an undertaking, though!

    You did a great job!

  • @aah1013 I HIGHLY recommend that paint. Pinterest "Annie Sloan Chalk Paint" the tutorial I watched she specifically talks about using oak...! The paint is so easy to work with! -you have to go to the website and find a distributor through... There are only two places that sell it within 4 hours of me ;-))
  • Now I'm doing her name in the same style
  • Love DIY and the idea of it but I feel like I have so many other things to do!!!

Yeah, same here @christina4436. I just try to tackle the projects in stages so it doesn't take up huge chunks of time all at once. A little here, a little there.
  • @Skayser7 Wow! I absolutely love how the angle of the ceiling looks with the trees -- so, so cool!
  • I made this clock from the Petit Collage craft book! I also bought some of their adorable prints on wood, and they have tons of other great decor and gifts! www.petitcollage.com
  • Only DIY project for our nursery is the closet. I unfortunately don't have much spare time. You are all so talented and have made such beautiful pieces for your baby's!!
  • DH chalk painted an old swinging cradle we thrifted and replaced all the old hardware.

He also built a new split closet design for DD and DS shared bedroom.

I still have a ton of sewing to do as well.

  • Ballerina themed wall art!
  • I am so impressed with all this DIY. I don't think I did any DIY for this baby. I did clean out the room and closet hardcore. I do have a small DIY project I want to work on this week though. Great job mommas!

  • We're doing a pink, gray, and white theme for baby girl. The room is almost done except for a few sewing projects. I'm making her a grey chevron and pink ruffle crib skirt, a pink rocking chair slipcover (to hide the padding since it's a little uncomfortable, and pink curtains. We painted an old dresser and attached new pulls. I made the Pom poms in the corner. I also painted the frame and initial above the crib. I also need to frame a set of elephant prints I ordered for above the changing table. I love how the room is turning out, I can't wait to see her in it!
  • We went with a Lion King theme :) I made his letters out of scrapbook paper and leftover styrofoam. The banner I just made on word and printed and laminated (so baby fluids don't ruin it lol) same with the lion king animals. My husband thinks we should name him Thor, but we aren't so I compromised with a little hammer and picture frame. I had a bed sheet and pillow case from when I was a little kid so I put the pillowcase in a piece of styrofoam and put it up on the wall (concrete walls at an angle so can't put hooks up, yay for 3M hooks) and the sheet I put up on the wall like a canopy behind the glider. Work in progress!
  • A few more of my DIY projects! My dad did all the cut outs for the mobile which we got hung and put up last night. My mom has been on a sewing rampage and made these awesome moose crib sheets out of super soft minky material along with a matching change pad cover. She has made a few extra sets of sheets as well. The nursery is slowly coming together! Hoping to get some artwork hung up this weekend.
