TTC after 35

Why is everyone on Facebook pregnant?!?!? >:\

Re: Why is everyone on Facebook pregnant?!?!? >:\

  • Ugh! Let's add a SIL, three employees, 1 coworker and 4 friends to the list. #FML.

  • That must be so hard :(
I got off of fb 3 years ago. Too much input.

  • Thankfully just about everyone I know that was going to have kids has already had them. For instance, there are 13 female cousins in my family and I am the only one that hasn't had children.  25 babies, and that's not even counting my 13 male cousins' offspring.

Oh so you're on my Facebook feed? I totally know what you mean. It's everyone right now in my life. Everyone!!! Friends, ex friends, my boss, relitives....Oh wait. Not quite everyone. I'm not. :(
  • OMG!  Exactly!  Also, every where I turn!
I mentioned something last year in my neighborhood Bunco and now 3 women are pregnant and they weren't even trying!?

  • What kicks me in the pants is damn Kim Kardashian. She annoys me anyway but the fact that she's pregnant irritates the piss out of me. I have to see spread all over the freakin world.

I have also noticed a large uptick of women pregnant since my loss. They are every.where.
  • I can think of like 10 people I know who are pregnant right now or just had their baby.
  • Right there with you.  The feed is constant and every time, I have to remind myself to be happy for them.  Seems like it gets a little harder each time.
  • The day I found out I had a missed miscarriage, everyone on tv kept fussing about Kate Middleton wearing pink for her last appearance before her maternity leave.  ~X(

  • My FB page is the same, but personally I'm glad.  for a while my feed was beginning to look like the Obits page.  Every time I logged in someone had died.  I only knew one person that passed, but it was very sad when people were posting about parents, siblings, friends, etc dying.  I was so relived when suddenly it went back to engagements and babies.

  • Well my whole zen thing is out of the window....my other SIL just told us she is pregnant. 2 down and 1 to go, UGH!!! They are all under 30 and apparently all decided they better get a head start once they learned I miscarried in May. I was feeling so great about things and now I just feel so defeated.
  • So sorry, @Goldsgirl9 That is hard.
  • Would it be easier if they didn't post as much? I have friends who don't post anything - maybe for this reason - maybe they know how it felt when they were trying. And then some friends that start posting pictures of their "bump" and they just confirmed their due date is 8 mos. away. It doesn't bother me either way right now, but I can see how it might. I'm happy for them, especially the ones who thought PG wasn't an option and they're celebrating their miracle. When I'm PG I don't think I'll post at all.
  • I don't think people should have to hide their happiness because other people might be sad.  If that were the case, you couldn't post about your engagement or wedding because someone might have just gone through a break-up, you couldn't post about Mother's Day because someone may have lost their mother, etc, etc. I can think of a million examples.

It's completely understandable to have trouble seeing people's good news, but I also think it would be sad if we hid all the good news.

  • I wasn't saying it should be hid! It just seems like Murphy's law that when I'm trying and not succeeding, everyone else is breezing through it. I'm genuinely happy for folks, I'm just frustrated for myself and DH.

  • I'm not into that sort of thing. :) Also, we plan to wait a long time before making any announcements. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but we've discussed it quite a bit.
  • @MntnGirl, when I got pregnant, DH said we should wait until 12 weeks to tell anyone (aside from parents and my sister's family). I hated the idea of waiting that long, but I respected his wishes.  Then HE ended up telling a bunch of people!  Then he had to tell them all that I miscarried.  Ugh.

  • Ugh yes everyone is pg or just recently gave birth. I don't wanna be rude so I "like" the pic ur status then I hide it. That's helps me in my TTC goals
  • I literally know 7 pregnant people in my immediate social circle right now who are pregnant. It seems like it's one or two more every day lately. It's hard not to be happy for them (all except one - long story.) I love baby news but the timing right now is rough and frustrating. I just want to be a part of it. :(
  • @CarrieandRoy That's part of why we don't want to tell. Just in case. :( And we also don't want a bunch of questions and unsolicited advice.
  • @CarrieandRoy and @MntnGirl I once read where it was someone's opinion that you should tell right away because it's still a life and it should still be celebrated regardless. And, if things end sadly, there will be people around to assist with your grieving.

Personally, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about that. I just thought I'd put the idea out there.
  • @knottie16743552, I told my friends the whole news -- that I had been pregnant and miscarried -- all in one conversation. That worked out well because I didn't have to try to remember who I told and get back to them, and they didn't have a chance to tell others who would end up congratulating me because they hadn't heard the follow-up news.

Unfortunately, my husband told people that he wouldn't have shared our more personal news with, like clients and acquaintances. I had to have dinner with two of his clients a week after finding out about the MMC, before the d&e. He had told them the news, so it was really awkward for me. To make it even more awkward, one of them offered me a drink and I refused (because it was too weird to be drinking while I was still technically pregnant) but he brought me one anyway and insisted I try it. I'm sure they assumed the baby had already vacated the premises, but it hadn't.

  • Oh no. I can't even imagine. :(
  • Right after my loss I had 2 friends announce that they were preg. To add more to the pain they were due around the same time I was. One was just a day or two away.
I just keep telling myself that one day it will be my turn again.

  • I've had a couple of friends that told people very early and then had a MC. My DH and I decided to wait past 13 weeks, I prefer 16 to 18 weeks really. In our previous pregnancy, he couldn't keep his mouth shut though. He told multiple people (who were just acquaintances) before we even announced to our family. I did not approve. [-X

Personally, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about that. I just thought I'd put the idea out there.

I like this for 2 reasons - because it's hard for me to keep my mouth shut about exciting things, and because I feel like even if I miscarry I would tell family and friends anyway. I wouldn't go posting about a pregnancy or MC on Facebook but close family and friends would know so wh not tell right away? Although I think DH wants to only tell parents and wait the 12 weeks if it ever happens so we would go with that. It will be hard for me tho! Lol
