crib bedding

I don't think I want to buy a whole bedding set....there aren't any that I love and they all have things included that we don't want or need. We have found a lot of crib sheets and blankets we love. But I'd like to add a cute crib skirt. I cannot find one that I like (polka dots and/or stripes/Chevron) in our color scheme (pink & gray)....that doesn't cost a fortune!!!
Does anyone have any recommendations for where to find affordable crib skirts?

Re: crib bedding

  • Make one! Crib skirts are relatively easy to sew, or you could use fusing which only requires a damp rag and an iron. If your crib is pushed up against a wall like most are, you only need 3 sides/panels done. Hem 3 sides of the fabric (after measuring!) and then attach some sort of ties (ribbon, string, etc.) to the 4th side. Tie that to the springs under the mattress. I measured mine while the crib was on the highest level, thus needing the longest skirt. I can retie the skirt when I lower the mattress as baby grows, making the skirt still have the correct drop to the ground.

I'm sure there are tutorials that have much better explanations than that, but just trying to share the general idea. Fabric is fun to pick out because you have so many options!

  • Etsy! I found that most of the individuals who make bedding will do custom orders, so even if you can't find exactly what you want, you can message the person and get a quote. That's what I ended up doing.

I wish I was talented enough to make my own, but it just ain't happening :)
  • I looked on etsy but it still seems pricey! Maybe I'm just cheap but I don't want to pay more than $50 for just a crib skirt (actually would rather pay more like $30). But most of the ones I have seen have been $65-$175.

This is the shop I used: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DreamyBabyShop?ref=l2-shopheader-name

I got a full bedding set for $150. Not sure what just the skirt would be, but maybe worth checking?

I also checked Land of Nod. Buy Buy Baby has some basic crib skirts they sell separately for around $35 I think.

    Target maybe?
  • Babybedding.com is very pricey but you can design your own skirt to get exactly what you're looking for. They seem to constantly have 20% off sales- still pricey though!

  • Pottery barn has a lot of stuff on sale. I was able to buy a crib skirt for like $15, a sham for $8.
  • I ordered one from American Baby from Amazon for $25. They have a range of solid colors available, including pink and gray. So if you can't find a pattern you like, consider a solid.

  • I second @MamaOwl15. I found our crib skirt on Amazon for less than $30. It actually matches the quilt we got from Etsy perfectly! I'd give it a shot!
  • I got mine at West Coast Kids but I think its just a Canadian store - not sure where you're from. I was like you and kind of built my own crib set for the same reasons you mentioned. You can check out their site here and perhaps get it shipped to you! https://www.westcoastkids.ca/

  • Target- I got a grey and white chevron crib skit for $15. Ikea has solid colored ones for about $7.
  • Yes, I've seen both the gray Chevron and pink ruffled ones at Target. I like both of those! I was just holding out to see if I could find one that had gray and link before choosing one of those!
I think my problem is that when I searched for pink and gray skirts, I found some beautiful ones that I loved (especially from Carousel Designs) but they are $175. I could never bring myself to spend so much on a crib skirt!
  • @operasingermommy That is where I am getting my bedding from! I am buying fabric and having it made. Much less expensive.

Do you have someone you know that sews or did you just find a local seamstress? Do you mind me asking how much you will pay? I'm just curious how much less expensive...
  • Saw this one today for $22.99 it's grey chevron:

They also have a white and blue one (not chevron) for $4.99. I'm tempted to buy it just bc it's so cheap!
  • Thanks ladies for the tips about the solid coloured ones! I've been looking for something that isnt ridiculously priced and a solid one would work great for our needs. Definitely will be looking into those links :)

  • I saw this cute Pink and Gray chevron one on Amazon while I was looking for a crib skirt for my boy!

  • Sorry here is the picture!
  • Land of Nod has some cute ones as well as coordinating crib sheets, etc that you can mix and match.
  • Pottery Barn Kids, I had the same problem and have the same colors
  • Thanks everyone! I checked out all your suggestions! I ended up finding one on aamazon! It's not what I originally planned on but I really like it! I had to let go of the image of the one I saw that cost a fortune. Once I did that I zeroed in on one! It doesn't have the Chevron or polka dots but we are going to incorporate that into the curtains and closet organizers. And into some of the sheets, blankets, & changing table covers we will are registering for.
  • @BrooklynBroussard Awesome, me too!  It's pricey but I think it looks like a great company owned by military families so I was happy to support.  I did a small registry with them and my family was wonderful and pieced us together a little teal and gray elephant/polka dotted nursery.  Super cute!
