I worked in the medical field for 11 years. I am a fanatic about vaccines. To the point when it came to TDAP I have told people if you wont get it, dont come to my house, I wont let you in. (Anyone want to take a guess who is the one fighting me on it?) Its my job to protect my baby and I have had the unpleasent chance to hear whooping cough in person. We arent going there.
My husband got his on Monday and has been nursing his arm ever since. At first I kind of thought he was just being dramatic. Today he still cant lift his arm and had some swelling and warmth at the area injected. We went to the hospital because the dr is on vacation...hes having an allergic reaction! The ER dr literally said its a 1 in a million type thing. Opps! So he told him no more tdap shots in the future.
Now I kind of feel bad for picking on him

Don't feel bad. Your husband's allergic reaction sounds less likely than a baby contracting whooping cough.

It also sounds like he will be fine and babies who contract whooping cough might not be.

According to the nurse I saw yesterday when I pre-registered at the hospital, only the mom needs to get the TDAP during each pregnancy.  Since DH got it when our daughter was born, he is good.

But I agree, the reaction is better than your baby getting sick.  Hope he starts to feel better soon!

Poor guy! But you don't know unless you try. You did it with everyone's best interest at heart. Hope he feels better soon.

Well at least your hubby got one, mine is being a big sissy about it.
