Re: Random Thoughts and Symptoms 7/28

  • Just got back from my appointment. Got to hear the heart beat finally. I didn't get a rate from the doc, but it sounded nice and strong.

So so so tired. I was up from 445 until almost 7 for no reason!! Ugh. So today will drag on and on. Not so nauseas today, yet. Super thirsty. And hot.
we went and looked at a house today. It was so cute, a great starter home for sure. Our lease isn't up until december though, so we're in a pickle. It's a smaller college town so not many options and rent is crazy expensive. Advice is always welcome :)

Would your landlord let you sub-lease or pay an early term fee? I work for a property management company and there are always options to get out of a lease, it will just depend on how much you want to spend.

    --------------------
when we pay rent this weekend we are going to talk to them and see if they have any cheaper places available, if not we will tell them our situation and see what we can come up with!
  • Didn't take Unisom last night to see if I would be ok this AM. Woke up at 5:30am feeling great, went to gym, still felt great. Ate normal food all day. Got home, felt like crap. Ate some grapes and puked up a storm. I'll be taking Unisom again tonight :/
  • I wish this nausea would so go away and sore boobs. Today I had my NT scan. The sonographer was all "Oh my lord your baby is in the perfect spot so let me get these measurements now!" I have a feeling this will be the calm child. My DD is my ferret on Crystal meth because she has ADHD and is bouncing off the walls most of the time. Calm is welcomed!

Hahahahaha that's the best description of anything I've ever seen. Thank you for that!

Currently freaking out about the thought of paying nearly $1000 for daycare for my twins. What the heck, we aren't struggling by any means, but we aren't rich!!! Dang!

Round ligament pains here too. Mostly when I turn or get up to fast, but holy ouch! And my boobs.. my usually sad little boobs are soooooooooo sore and swollen/hard. Still really nauseous too.. oh well. Hoping the second trimester brings some relief. Fingers crossed!

  • Yesterday I pooped and slimmed down so much as a result that I did not need to wear maternity jeans today. What happened to my former body, the one that was so normal and predictable? Now I huff and puff from a short walk like a 300 lb woman ascending Mt Everest with no Sherpa to help out. Pregnancy is INSANE.

That's not bad for twins, that's what we will be paying monthly for just one.

We will be paying a little over $1200/mo. for a newborn + toddler - are you going to an in-home or center? Our toddler goes to an early education center so his is about $200/week, we are sending the newborn to our old in-home provider since she only charges $125/week, doesn't matter the age of child. Our center wanted $225/week for the newborn + $195 for our toddler/weekly. Even though I will have to drive across town every morning I still think it's worth it!

How did you go about finding your in-home daycare the first time around? I'm thinking this is going to be the best route for us but have not idea how to go about finding a good/trustworthy person?

The way I went about it I don't think most people would be comfortable with, we lucked out - but I posted a looking for in-home ad on Craigslist with the intention of meeting anyone who responded, turns out the one and only person we met with ended up being the one we chose! She only charges $3/hr. but we also live in Iowa with probably one of the lowest standards of living. There is a website care.com that you can try a free trial on as well and I would suggest checking your local DHS registered providers website as well.

I wouldn't normally suggest to parents looking to post a wanted ad like I did, but we just lucked out to be honest. We live on the complete opposite side of town but our son's center is less than 5 mins away and the in-home is actually close to my work, just far from our house. If it saves me $500/mo. I totally will drive a little further in the mornings!

I'll be paying 2,000/month (or sorry--- $1,995 ha!)
    for just one
    so consider yourself lucky!

There are some cheaper ones that run about1600 or so for one in my area that I still have to check out, but the 2k one is in my building and their wait list is 1.5 years long because everyone loves it. I put myself on the wait list in meantime.

  • @ashcody2 I'm praying we luck out too. Lol.

It's still a little early to seek something in home since what I have seen advertised on local Facebook groups and such is people having openings in the next month or two.

I'm constantly worrying about it because I know we can't afford the full time daycare my daughter went to plus keeping her in Catholic school. My parents seriously want to move here (especially since my sister is now living here too) but I'm doubting that will happen before this LO is born. Though it sure would be nice to have free childcare from my mom immediately!

Yes, I've been brainstorming some ideas to try and help us save in the daycare dept. all of our family who lives here unfortunately either works FT or cannot watch our children due to health issues. I have been in talks with my boss about the possibility of working from home PT, not only to save $$ but I really want to establish a better breastfeeding relationship with this LO. I had to go back to work after 8 weeks last time and I don't think I had a very stable supply by then.

I've considered working PT nights and PT days also which is not ideal, we can afford the daycare IF we go with the in-home for the newborn but I'd still like to save as much $$ as possible. I just honestly don't think I could cut it as a SAHM and I really want to advance in my career and don't think I could do that if I take off 5+ years.

Also, the FB searching is a really good idea too - we aren't originally from here so that was part of the reason I posted an ad on CL but I've seen tons and tons of in-home providers as well as moms just looking to stay home and take on 1 or 2 more children, so that's definitely another option!

I actually do work from home full time but am worried about keeping a newborn home and trying to do my job effectively. I'm pretty sure if I need to in the beginning I can make it work for a bit, but I'd like to have something lined up for mostly full time. There random days here and there that I do have to go into the office too.

I had considered just doing PT but There aren't a lot of daycares around here that do PT for that young and the ones that do its not even that much cost savings.

I wish this was easier. Lol

  • I will be 11 weeks this Friday and just the last two days the cramping has been terrible. I can tell I have a tiny round bump above my pubic bone that literally showed up yesterday. Of course no one can see this with my clothes on but I know it's there because it's my tummy and normally it's super flat there. Congrats on your pregnancy.
