Two diaper bags

will you and your husband or SO have separate diaper bags? Is it a hassle?

My wife wants a backpack or satchel type bag that looks rugged. She was looking at Columbia bags at Babies R Us. I figure I want something more purse like.

Is it worth it to get two or should I compromise and get the Columbia bag? She wouldn't use a girly purse like bag.

Re: Two diaper bags

• Me and my husband will have different bags. He has a backpack and I have a very girly hello kitty one lol
• We have two separate diaper bags because he wants something cool. We found a $10 backpack at Walmart that has comic book pages all over it.
• Loading the player...
• We will have separate bags. We both have backpacks but I wanted something with a cute pattern.
• We only have one, but I can see two working just fine. I'd stock both of them with general needs like diapers, wipes, extra set of clothes, etc., and then maybe have an insert that you can pop into whichever one you're using at the time. I received a bunch of 31 bag items for my shower with DD (none of which were requested), and I found that the best use for them was to piece them out for other purposes. One is a zipper insert that we can throw into whatever bag we're using or just into the car if we're making a quick trip.

• For DS, we only had one. I picked it out, thinking it would double as my purse, but it's black, so my husband initially said it was OK. Later he said it was too purse-like and didn't want to carry it!

If you're concerned about style, I don't see an issue with having two, just make sure you keep them stocked, and maybe have duplicates of anything you might need to carry in there (like Desitin).

I think my family will be sticking with just one this time around because DH will rarely go somewhere with the kids without me. DS has a toddler-sized backpack he uses now, and I'll just toss that in DD's bag if needed.

We will have two. We basically want the same style just in different colors.
I actually like the idea of 2 bags because my purse and diaper bag will probably merge into one and I don't want hubby running off with my wallet on accident.
• We have one, I went with a gender neutral colour and bag itself so if my boyfriend takes the baby somewhere he does have to look like he's carrying a purse.

We have two separate ones, because although mine is black, it has gold zippers and such and he feels it looks to girly. I just keep them both stocked with diapers and wipes. He is on is own for stocking water and snacks when needed.
• I have one that looks like a purse and hubby has a batman one!
• We have two! Mine is cutesy with a giraffe on it and his is just a plain black and red diaper bag that he picked out. They're already half packed with their own wipes, baby powder, butt paste and even baby tylenol. Eventually diapers and extra clothes will go in.

We will have two. I was told by a friend that is best to have two because she ended up keeping pads and other personal female items in it....and that bothered her husband. Plus my husband wants something more manly, like a black backpack.
I plan to get a smaller diaper bag and keep a clutch purse inside that I can grab if I go somewhere without baby. I also plan to have a bag in the car with extra supplies, blankets, clothes if needed so I don't have to pack so much into a diaper bag....but am still prepared.
• We're just planning on using one! We're both far too forgetful to keep two bags stocked.

Where did you find a Batman diaper bag? That is so cool
• We will have the main one that goes back-and-forth to daycare but I'm thinking of putting an emergency bag in his trunk one that looks more manly and has the basics in it... But I've got a fly diaper bag that I look forward to toting around :P
• We have one. It is a Patagonia messenger bag. I figure I can always use one of my large shopper style totes if I want to dress up a little more. https://www.patagonia.com/us/product/black-hole-mini-messenger-bag-12-liters?p=49320-1-FRDM&pcc=1148
• I think we're going to have two, but that's mainly because we will work it out to where we each work when the other is off, so we'll both have her at times and I'm sure DH would want a different type of bag to carry since he'll probably have to carry it a good bit.
• My husband is taking being an equal parent very seriously, and has actually been catching flak for it, so I suprised him with his own bag, as I got a black tote for myself. This one was the perfect size, much more rugged, and I got it monogrammed. I just got a basic fold up changing pad specifically to keep in his and we'll fill both of them with the same stuff. The worst that could happen is that we'll have a backup. It looks super sharp. https://m.llbean.com/product.html?&skCatId=34014&feat=sr&term=Sportsmans+Accessory+Bag,+Sage#34014
• My husband has more of a backpack and it's all black and I have more of a purse. I like separate that way if he forgets to help his off with the baby I still have mine and can take that.
• I bought a black bag that can also be used as a purse. My husband will use a back pack. Although, he's carried a lot of girly bags in his day bc he never wanted to spend money on his own diaper bag.

Let's see if he ends up carrying this one for the second round lol.

Planning to use one (as first-time parents). It's a messenger style that's dark grey with blue trim, so it's not really girly. We'll see how that works out. :)

@jefinley1 my husband picked out and registered for his own diaperbag and various baby items long before I started registering. It's strange to me that people don't understand that Dads can be just as excited for their babies as Moms. I didn't get pregnant all by myself. It was a joint venture.
• My DH and I agreed on Skip Hop's messenger style diaper bag because it wasn't super girly.

We considered getting a second one or getting a backpack but DH didn't really care that much so and since I'm staying home and will be the one doing most of the baby outings we figured it really didn't matter. My in-laws disagreed and bought my DH a diaper bag back pack for his birthday because they didn't want him carrying the diaper bag that we bought. Honestly it's huge. So we're planning on using it more as she gets bigger and needs the room for bigger things.

My cousins have told me that they love having backpacks now with their toddlers so we'll probably just do the same.
