Separation anxiety

my LO is 12 weeks old I am going back to work the end of August. The past week I can't leave his sight. If I take a shower he cries if I put him down for a nap in his rock and play in his room he cries. The only time he doesn't cry is if he can see me. What do I do? I feel so bad and I don't like hearing him cry.

Sounds like he's alone when you're not there, who will be your caregiver? Maybe have them watch LO for an hr or 2 now so you'll know how it goes?

  • I agree with pp. I would start working with his sitter to schedule some special time that he can get used to him/her.
I also go back to work the last week of August. Starting this week LO is going to his sitter two days a week for just 2 or 3 hours to get him used to being there.
Is your guy hysterical or just sassing. If he isn't hysterical I would leave him for your shower. He will get used to it. You could try to put down with something to distract him. My guy loves to lay in his crib and watch his mobile. I usually leave him in there if I need to shower or just need a few min of no baby. He giggles and talks to the mobile.
  • My sitter is on vacation till mid August. He's getting better on letting me leave. He might be playing me I am not sure. My mom thinks I am spoiling him now because when he cries I pick him up. If I wait too long to pick him up he will get hysterical and all red in the face. It takes a long time to calm him down. He's fine when I leave him with my mom for a few hours. When is the next growth spurt? I am thinking it could be a growth spurt because he's not napping like he used to..... I am going to try and bring him there for an hour when she comes back. He's going to a home daycare.
