I have them daily. Even before I was pregnant. They're just a little worse now, than pre pregnancy! Rest well, and drink plenty of fluids! And, if needed, take a Tylenol. I prefer liquid Tylenol, which I am able to take, because just a little bit goes a LONG way for me!
I have been suffering from migraines for 20+ years and now that Im pregnant, the best is lots of fluid (water), rest and I can only take Tylenol (1) as my doctor only allows now and if Im home with it, I go to sleep/nap in pitch black room with ice pack on head. All the best!
I had a terrible migraine that lasted 3 days. Mine are truly migraines and not just headaches. There is nothing OTC that you can do for a migraine (other than staying well hydrated and avoiding your triggers). Talk to your Dr. They can and do prescribe medication for migraines and may even send you to a neurology consult. They do have medications available that won't harm the baby as I was prescribed them. I'm lucky, my migraines have gotten much better since I got pregnant - I've only had the 1.
I had the worst effing migraine for three days straight. I thought my blood pressure was high. I called the dr and everything only for him to tell me to take extra strength Tylenol. I didn't know I could take anything because I didn't want to drug my baby but it was so bad I couldn't even move. Took the Tylenol (one dose) and now I'm all better.
I had them for a couple weeks with the optical aura precipitating it. After trying everything we can safely do, I started to monitor my protein. I have been migraine free for at least 2 weeks. Make sure you are getting plenty of healthy protein.
I've suffered with migranes since forever and they actually diminished in my first trimester but now they are back and terrible, I've had this one for like four days now and i think it may be due to sinuses as well, the fatigue its causing is too much, i havent taken anything except some nasal spray but i wake up with them and its on and off all day long
Yup - me too! Been getting them for about 20 yrs as well. I was always on meds for preventative as well as the relief meds like Immitrex, Fioracet...etc.
Trimester 1 - it was nausea and just feeling like crap .... but, now...tri 2...its freaking migraines. I take 2 extra strength Tylenol too and sometimes it helps for a little while, sometimes it doesnt even touch the pain.
I do remember, my first pregnancy - i had a migraine every single day until i turned 17 weeks. Literally TO THE DAY of the 17th week.
I am 15 wks now and praying that relief is in sight...and coming!
I feel for you...here's hoping they get better soon for you too.
In the UK tylenol is the suggested meds for pain and headaches in pregnancy...
Lately I have started to get migraine in the afternoon and I see to be better by getting 1.5L of water into be earlier into the day and a small dose of caffine in the afternoon. When I loose the battle I take one pill, nap and take 1 more if it's still bad when I get up.... sleeping through them has always been my best strategy
