I'm currently 33 (turning 34 in 3 months)
Our journey started back in 2009. We had tried for about a year on our own before mentioning something to my doctor. OBGYN did three rounds of Clomid with me before sending me to a RE. First doctor I saw ran blood work, which obviously came back bad. I was just about to turn 28 years old and had a FSH 27 and AMH 0.1 He told me that the chances of success were less than 5% His recommendation was adoption or IVF with donor eggs. All of this bad on one blood test. No other monitoring done. Diagnosis Premature Ovarian Failure.
I quickly made an appointment with another RE and he pretty much agreed with the diagnosis, but said that he'd be willing to try and help me. He did an u/s immediately and said I had a few follicles which was a good sign. We did an injectable IUI cycle in April that was a bust, but ended up pregnant naturally in May! Our miracle is now 4 1/2 years old.
Throughout the past 4 years we've tried for #2 but took an approach of "If it happens, it happens" I didn't want to get all crazy like I was when trying to get pregnant the first time. As time goes on I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that we'll most likely never have a second.
Has anyone else had success with such terrible numbers and that big of a gap between first child and second child?
