What's the difference? And do I use this stuff everytime I change a diaper or just when he has a rash? The closer I get to LO's arrival, the more clueless I realize I am about little details! Educate me, ladies!
I like butt paste. But I prefer aquaphor even more because it is clear. I only use it if I notice a rash not for every single change. You will figure out what works for you.
they're both diaper rash cream.... just different kinds. use what works for you. I've always used butt paste. it's like choosing pampers over huggies, they're both still diapers.
I don't think I will ever be convinced to use anything other than Triple Paste. We had tried SOOO many kinds with DS and weren't having any luck, then the woman who worked out our Day Care suggested Triple Paste (she obviously changes a lot of bums!), she said it was the best she hsd seen. We bought some and never turned back!! It is pricier, but totally worth every penny. We only use it when we see signs of a rash starting and it always nips it in the butt (no pun intended) before it develops into something worse.
I swear by Aquaphor whrn DS has rashes. If they are bad for a few days we use lotramin and aquaphor. But, ive never heard of triple paste so i'll give that a try too! Ds got bad diaper rash during big teething spells and our dr also said to limit acidic foods so his poop wouldnt hurt as badly.
My pediatrician recommends butt paste if there is a little redness, but if DD has a really bad rash to only use aquaphor because butt paste can be difficult to wipe off and cause more irritation. This works for us every time.
DS has never had a diaper rash so take my recommendation with salt. My pedi suggested the triple paste as @Miz_Liz said. We've always had a bottle stored just in case.
We do butt paste. When I did clinical in peds that's what they used/recommended. My kids really never had diaper rash issues though so I can't testify to how it works on a bad rash. I only used it when I noticed a little irritation and it cleared up quick.
DS has very sensitive skin, he also gets terrible rashes when he is teething and had several food intolerances as well when he was younger. He would gets burns so bad that he was sent to an allergist and they would appear within 10 minutes of a poop without any warning. I hated when he would get these and poor thing would scream when we changed his diaper.
I have a whole system that includes baking soda baths, A LOT of diaper free time, no wipes only wet cloths and load on the butt paste. A nice thick layer, I've tried a million different things and it is the only thing that can give him quick relief and make a clear difference in 24 hours. Anything else took at least 3 days to get under control and 3 days of being basically diaper free is not a lot of fun for Mama.
I only use it for rashes though, otherwise we just use Desitin.
Auqafor for the win! But only if there is a rash, chafing or any redness. Can't stand anything smelly or colored. I also like aquafor because it can treat dry or irritated skin elsewhere too!
What about Boudreaux Rash Preventor ? Does anyone know about this stuff? It has really good reviews and "mess" free so that's what partly hot me tbh lol
It's never even occurred to me to ask this question, and I now feel totally unequipped to deal with diaper rash!!!
We were gifted a few different things - Aquaphor, Boudreaux's, Burts Bees - so I guess we'll do a little trial and error and see if any of those work! Sounds like the triple paste is the go to if we don't like anything we already have!
I'm not sure where I heard it, but someone once said they use Vaseline to protect baby's bum every day to prevent diaper rash. Has anybody heard of this?
We use Grovia Magic Stick with almost every change (cloth diaper safe but we use it with both cloth and disposable) and triple paste is our go-to for actual rashes.
Re: Diaper cream vs butt paste
I seriously love the stuff!
Ds got bad diaper rash during big teething spells and our dr also said to limit acidic foods so his poop wouldnt hurt as badly.
My sister swears on butt paste
