So I know there were old stories and stereotypes that pregnant women eat like pickles and ice cream and things like that. Has anyone had cravings for any weird combinations? If so, what were they?
Crumbled bacon on top of blueberry ice cream would have to be the strangest combination. The strangest craving was a tuna salad sandwich, though -- I'm allergic to any and all fish.
Pickles (I know, I know, it's a stereotype) with a bagel & cream cheese. But I used to eat this all the time in college. Take a bite with all of that together, SO good!
With my middle child I craved jalapeños and I don't normally eat them. I wanted them on everything. This time I want pickles and tomatoes together...so I have been eating grape tomatoes with a bite of pickle.
I was on a pickles & mustard (together) kick for a good three weeks. Now I crave steak every night, which is not something I've ever craved before in my life.
Not really weird combinations but it's interesting how i always want to greasiest, gnarliest, cheapest version of any food. No, I don't want authentic Mexican 5-star hon. I want Taco Bell. Brautwurst? Why can't we just have corn dogs? No no hon.. the frozen kind. Yeah, Chilean sea bass sounds great. I'm prolly just gonna have fish sticks though.
Pickles and cheese(not sure it's that weird though, my DH thought it was). Also eggnog one day(just on its own though nothing else)
I've been craving grilled cheese sandwiches with pickles and tomatoes. I didn't really think it was weird until my dh said something about it. My kids like the sandwiches too though.
Hmm grilled cheese with pickles doesn't sound too bad. I love pickles! There's a sandwhich at jack n the box that I get that has pickles on it, so good! And I too will drink eggnog without anything else. And it doesn't even have to be a holiday, that stuff is amazing! I could drink a carton by myself in a day lol
@Jonesy288 Nuggets and fries dipped in Chocolate frosty is so good though. In college I had a roommate that we would go out at least once a week for this exact thing.
I've had a few weird combinations. Besides the deviled eggs and mac and cheese, with my son I craved baked potatoes with pickle relish and sweet and sour sause. Early in this pregnancy I would eat coleslaw and zebra cakes. Soo good...
I crave tomatoes like crazy but no crazy combos. Lately everything that i want is protien based. I'm a vegetarian and believe in listening to your body so I'm living on boiled eggs and greek yogurt with fruit and walnuts. Yummm

I used to eat that as a kid!! I haven't had it in a long time, maybe I should try it again lol

I always ate this as a kid too. My dad would make grilled cheese with pickles, and my mom would make grilled cheese with tomatoes. I would just combine the 2 and put them together. Mmmm I think that's what I'm going to have for lunch today :P
Cottage cheese and kalamata olives? We eat feta cheese and olives (kalamata too) ALL the time in Greece. It is kind of a staple, the same with feta and watermelon and bread! yum
Hahah these all sound equal parts great and terrible. I haven't put anything odd together but I have been craving the worst random things: lemonade (always), hot chez it's, burgers and frozen yogurt. All things I barely ate before pregnancy.
Re: Weird food combos (for fun)
*It was what let me to take a pregnancy test this time after craving it with my son.
