Baby Names

Sister names too similar?

So, we're team green. If this is a girl, two of our forerunners are Annie and Nora (still not sure about middle name). My questions is if Annie and Adalynn (my other daughter's name) are too similar? Adalynn is sometimes called Addy, but usually Adalynn--at least for now. She's only 21 months :)

Also, feedback on Annie and Nora w/ potential middle names is appreciated!!

  • Good feedback. Will be curious if this is the general consensus!

  • Nora Jane is a nice name. It has a nice sound to it. Nora and Addy sound good together too

  • I like Nora, but I have so many friends with Babies named Nora, it's just a really popular name where I live right now, I don't think I could add another one to the mix. That being said, it's a great name and I like it better.
  • Annie and Adalynn are too close. Nora is a better option.

  • Nora is cuter than Annie anyway. I agree with Nora Jane. It's a sweet name.
  • Definitely Nora.

Agree that Annie and a potential Addie (even if it's a slim potential) are too similar. Nora works well. I do love the name Annie, since it's my daughter's name :) Also love the suggestion of Jane which is our girl name for this team green baby.

Yes too close especially because the Annie/Addie thing. Nora is a better option.

Edit because I misread first time.

  • Too close. Also, since Adalynn is very trendy, I would think you need to pick something that isn't quite as classic and simple as Annie or Nora to match that style. I know names don't have a theme, but it sounds weird if they are so far off like that.

Suggestions (not saying these names are trendy, just that they might match Adalynn better):

    Carys
    Brooke
    Tessa
    Danica
    Clarissa
    Elodie
    Fallon
    Justine
    Chiara
    Piper
    Savannah
    Monica

  • I love your name suggestions, but hubby has vetoed most of those. I so wish I could get him to do Carys! Adalynn is actually a family name that we'd had picked out since we started dating. I know it's trendy, but that wasn't the intention we had when we landed on it a long time ago.

I definitely think Nora is a better fit with Adalynn.
  • I agree that the nicknames are too similar. DH and I had a named picked out for a future DD, then we agreed we couldn't use it when we saw how similar the nicknames were. (Margaret and Abigail? No issues. Maggie and Abby? Nope no no no nope).

I think Nora matched the sibset better too.
