2nd Trimester

rash - not pupps

To start let me say I've searched the for rashes and I haven't seen anything like what I'm about to describe. If I've missed it, my bad.

On Thursday afternoon I was with a client and remember suddenly feeling an intense itchy feeling kinda right where the top of my boobs meet. I had to scratch it and I apologized to the client and she said oh there's been a mosquito blah blah blah, I wrote it off. Later on and next day the itchy area seemed to spread to maybe an inch or so. It was a tiny bit red, no bumps. Itchy as I can't even describe. Friday later on it seemed to be a bigger area maybe 3 inches. My mom are and DH look at in chest and agree it barely looks irritated. It woke me up at 3am last night, still not much color or change of skin texture. This am area is roughly 4 inches (it headed up toward my colar bone)and the skin looks minimally irritated, pinker than the rest but not really red.

I researched pupps but I'm having a girl, nothing raised on the skin, and nothing on my stomach. I thought bugs but no indication of bites. I thought allergies but I haven't changed or eaten anything out of ordinary. I thought sunburn but besides walking my dog every morning I haven't had much sun exposure in over a week. I've put aloe which helps for a bit and cortisone not much change. Any ideas? I'm 22 weeks if it matters, ftm...sigh this sucks.

Sounds like you should probably see your dr. No one is going to be able to diagnose you here.

  • I agree, ask your doctor. Rashes are difficult to diagnose especially without even seeing it.
  • Wasn't looking looking for a diagnosis, this is completely not the place for that. As a FTM I had heard and read pregnancy cause lots of skin sensitivities. Susceptibility to sun, injuries, or allergies that had not been an issue prior to pregnancy. I figured some experienced mothers might have experienced something like that and share.

Again, no one here can help you. Especially without seeing a picture. Even if there was a picture, I can almost guarantee you'd get multiple different answers leaving you in the same situation you're in now. Just ask you dr.
  • ...thanks for your continued and very directive feedback...?
  • Could be just dry skin, could be echezma mine flared up bad during my 2nd trimester. It could also be allergies.. It's hard to say.
  • @amberrmariee20 - thanks for the feedback. I haven't had eczema in the past but who knows, maybe. Thankfully it's not as intense as before. Midwife advised benadryl and more water than usual.
  • @Unica1302+ have you changed your jewelry to a different type of metal ? I can't wear anything silver cause I break out !
  • I've had PUPPPS since week 15 and am having a girl, third baby. Sometimes it just happens whenever it wants. There are also just general pregnancy rashes women get from hormones, etc. check with your doc for sure. Mine also tested liver enzyme, which was high. Since then I've added v8 juice to my diet, used oatmeal baths (just be careful because it's slippery) and have been drinking lots more water. The rash has become less annoying. Sun also helps for the areas on my arm, too bad no nude beaches. Lol
  • No, no changes in jewelry or perfume or anything. I get blood drawn next week, so if it's something there it should turn up.

@mariposa08 what area did your pupps start?
  • Right below my navel, then it went away there because I used a topical steroid (very teeny amount). Then it spread like wildfire to my thighs and side of belly. Now it's lessening after using grandpa's pine tar soap and oatmeal baths. Hth! :)
  • When I was pregnant with ds, I had what felt like a rash with almost a burning sensation that was directly under my boobs. It was a little red, but more so from me rubbing it all the time. I have no idea what it was but it went away once i had him. I googled it like crazy but could never find anything. I can't remember when it started either but so far so good with this lo.

  • This ended up diminishing and going away on its own. Pre-pregnancy I only had seasonal allergies but I feel like my skin is randomly hypersensitive like I've touched something I'm newly allergic to..I can't figure out what. Last night all my skin got super itchy until I finally fell asleep. I wonder if the pregnancy is just making me very sensitive or newly allergic to something...?
