Just a vent

I am a single FTM. My LOs father is around electronically, but not physically. I am currently living at my mothers house. While I sincerely appreciate all of the help and support she has provided, sometimes I think she is treating my LO as her child and not her grandchild. I know that people don't always follow the doctors advice, as I have listened to my mother instead of the doctor about a couple things.. But I still listen to his pedi on most things. When I say something to my mother about her not even telling me about all these new things she is trying, she gets upset! I work nights and she is the babysitter. Anyone else going through this? Any advice?

Re: Just a vent

  • What things are you talking about? I would be terrified if my mother tried foods or something with my LO. Everyone that generation has told me to give the baby cereal and my pedi was so against it. I think a lot of times our mothers don't remember the newborn stage too well...

She gave him Karo syrup in a bottles 3 days In a row but she 'felt like he didn't have enough messy diapers'. I tried to explain that BF babies aren't like FF babies.. She just doesn't get it

Edited because I forgot a word.. Lack of sleep!

I would be really upset by this! I would tell her you appreciate everything but to ask you next time before giving LO anything other that BM or Formula!
