Weight gain

How much weight is your baby gaining per week roughly? My daughter is a good size baby but only put on 110 grams over the last 13 days. She wets and soils plenty of nappies each day, seems content and sleeps a 6-8 hour stretch at night but I'm concerned about her low gains...

I think the average is 4-7oz per week. 110 grams is 3.88oz. But an average doesn't mean that's what every baby will gain. My DS often gains 8oz per week so he's above the average and he has gone as much as 14oz in one week. Some babies are small, some are big. I wouldn't be too concerned as long as she seems content and has a good number of diaper changes.

If you're worried though, just talk to your pediatrician. But like I said, every baby is different. And some weeks will be lower than others too.

Also - how old is your LO? Weight gain slows down I think after 2 months. Average is to gain about 1-1 1/2 pounds per month. After 6 months I think it's 1 pound per month.

  • My guy has gained about a half pound per week but his a porker. I think as long as she's gaining something you shouldn't be too worried but def talk to a ped about your concerns.
