Teething......

My 11 week old has already started teething. She has been for the last 2 weeks or so. Before you say she's too young....both my husband and I started around 2 1/2 months and all 3 of my nieces had a full set of teeth by 8 months.....

STM suggestions, advice, help?

Re: Teething......

  • I'm not doubting you at all but just wondering what signs your LO is showing? I ask because I thought I saw something in the top of DS's mouth the other day that looked like the tip of a tooth. Just curious what you noticed so I can look for signs as well.
  • drooling
    fist in mouth
putting anything she can in her mouth
we put baby orijel on her gums and she screamed when we touched her top gums (even though she should get the bottoms first)
    restlessness at night
    difficulty napping during the day
biting her binkies and no sucking on them
    biting her bottle nipple
    biting me when I nurse
her gums are very bumpy, which they weren't before

She also sounds, looks, and feels like she has a cold without the fever. I asked at her 2 month check up and her DR says that she shouldn't start teething until 4 months, but I know my daughter and my mom knows her granddaughter....all of the signs are there.

  • Oh my god that's all the weird things my daughter has started at 10 weeks when she's awake I'm going to check her gums. My mother told me awhile back when we though my godson was teething is you can check by running a metal spoon across their gums. I didn't try it but the tooth must stop the smoothness or something?
  • My LO does a lot of those things so I googled teething and read an article (babycenter I think) that said babies can start the teething process as young as 10 weeks but might not actually sprout a tooth for a while.

We are dealing with the exact same things and my daughter will be 12 weeks on Sunday. My husband got his first tooth at 3 months and our niece is 4 months and has her 2 bottom teeth already! We are using a cold teether and teething tablets that desolve quickly in her mouth. She spits some of it out but they do seem to help.

  • Someone mentioned in another post about not giving babies this young cold teethers because they can't regulate their body temp. I'm not sure if there is any validity to that but I would check with a pediatrician just to be safe...
  • I am wondering if my son is teething as well.... He's 11 weeks and I BF and give him formula as well and he seems content them 10 mins later he's sucking on his hand. He hasn't been napping well either any suggestions
  • My boy turned 3 months yesterday and is and has been teething. He actually has a molar pushing out of the skin. Anyways w3 just give him infant Tylenol every once in a while if it really starts bothering him. It is possible that the teeth are playing tricks and will go back down. My daughters were horrible.
