Re: Freezer meal planning and tips

  • We have about 20 meal options stacked away in the freezer! CAN'T STOP. WON'T STOP.

  • I need to get on the cooking! Another suggestion is to register for home cooked meals. I use BabyList for my registry which offers this option and almost everyone has chosen to give us a home cooked meal as a gift! So amazing and awesome!

We just got our deep freezer yesterday. They're actually pretty affordable! Under $200 for a 5 cu ft one, which is plenty of space for our soon to be family of 4. We figure with 2 boys, it'll get some use over the years.

I agree with some previous tips- freeze things in ziplocks where you can and then I use the disposable aluminum pans that come with paper flat lids for casseroles, so you can write on them and they're not bulky like the plastic lids. You can get them at the dollar store. I also agree with making more/saving meals for when you return to work- that's when I needed them most! Also, one handed food is good. I spilled a lot of salad and other food on DS's face while nursing lol.

Here are some things on my list so far: chili (2 kinds), meatball minestrone, chicken & sweet potato Stoup (Rachel Ray- so good!), lasagna, turkey burgers, shredded chicken, spaghetti sauce, enchiladas, quiche, breakfast casserole, waffles, breastfeeding muffins. Also stocking up things as they go on sale like digiornos, taco kits, and meat that we use frequently. I didn't make enough freezer meals with DS, so I'm trying to do better this time!

  • I've seen people make a list of the freezer meals they have and magnet it to the fridge. Then every time they use one cross it off the list. I haven't started mine but I plan to try this when I do
