2nd Trimester

Lightheaded/passing out

good evening,

Lately I have been getting very lightheaded but today it is followed by me feeling myself starting to pass out. I could be just sitting talking to a patient and all of a sudden I just start to go but never fully pass out just go limp and start to slip out of my chair. Has anyone experienced this before and can you tell me what it is?

Re: Lightheaded/passing out

  • It could be a lot of things. You need to contact your dr right away.
  • Loading the player...
  • Get off the internet and call your doctor!
  • I've felt like that. My Dr says it's common in the second trimester and to drink more water.
  • I almost passed out a few times...where you start to see black and everything start to close in on you. I completely passed out one time. I went to the ER each time and was told I was dehydrated. Make sure you drink lots of water, even if that means you'd have to pee every 10mins.
  • Talk to your doctor to rule out anything serious but it IS very common. I got this too, but in my first trimester.
  • Same thing happened to me twice - once when I was at baby gap shopping when I wasn't supposed to and yesterday when I was trying to hang curtains. Both came suddenly and passed as soon as I sat down and drank some water. It's hard but you have to drink water all day every day to prevent dehydration, which is the likely cause.
  • I have been passing out for the last 3 months with this pregnancy, have your dr check your iron levels you might be anemic, that's usually the most common. Drink lots of water, rest as much as you can.
  • I went to the doctor she said I am working to much, not eating enough or drinking enough. I started snacking every two hours and mixing some Gatorade with my water and I have been feeling so much better. I also am not picking up extra shifts. If anyone else is feeling like this you might be in the same shoes as me if you are try what I did and I'm sure you will feel so so much better! Best of luck mommies!!!
  • At 9 weeks along I passed out....at an office wide meeting (nearly 500 people) in front of the new company CEO introduction speech.  Needless to say, it was embarassing but I was so worried about baby.  the ambulance came and checked me out and recommended I see my doctor.  The doctor said the biggest worry is if I was injured or struck my belly on the way down (luckily, someone caught me). Otherwise, it's low blood pressure from not eating/drinking enough.  Remember, with all that extra blood and energy our body is using we need to drink more and eat more.

I am not saying that it is simply low BP and dehydration for you, but it was for me and it's normal during pregnancy. If you're concerned or ever faint, make sure you go to the doctor. even for the peace of mind. :)

  • It could be dehydration. But if it keeps happening, go to your Doctor! :-S
  • Talk to your doctor! It could be something as simple as exhaustion or dehydration but you don't really want to risk it. I had a major vitamin deficiency that had me passing out FREQUENTLY.
  • I've been exactly the same the last few weeks, my dr thought anemia but it's a b12 deficiency.. Go see your dr and they should do some blood tests and be able to rule out/diagnose pretty quickly if it's vitamin or iron related
