Why is it so hard to get my baby to sleep?

My three month old son crys excessively when it's nap time or bedtime. The only way I can get him to fall asleep is if I'm standing up bouncing around and he still gets extremely upset before falling asleep. He also doesn't stay asleep in his bassinet that's next to my bed. Any suggestion?

Have you ever tried letting him cry?  Sometimes babies just need to cry and when they do, they'll sleep better and longer.  This blog index might be helpful:

I don't have any answers for you. Often my baby does the same and I usually chalk it up to being a little overtired.
