Stress will not effect the baby, however it does effect you. Are you crying overnight? Please seek some help if you're feeling overwhelmed and spending large amounts of time crying. There are options available that can help you feel better, even if it's just talking to someone.
I'm sorry, but as a clinical psychologist I can't sit by and watch false information on this topic be spread. There is substantial research suggesting that maternal stress especially in the third trimester can have an impact on the the developing baby's HPA axis function (the HPA axis has a role in regulating mood, anxiety, etc.). That being said EVERYONE experiences stress and the impact of moderate maternal stress on the baby will likely be small, however saying that mommy's stress does not impact the baby is false. While we can't avoid stress while pregnant, trying to limit/manage it as well as possible is important for mommy AND baby.
This worries me. I work in a special ed structured unit with kids ages 3-6 who have autism, adhd and behavior issues. It's a very stressful and mentally emotionally and physically demanding job. The hardest times are coming back from summers, long weekends and holidays. I'm already anxious about starting this school year since we start on Aug 13 and I'll be 25 weeks preg. :-S
Im not qualified to have an answer for this but i believe constant stress can cause stress on your baby because it raises your blood pressure. Its something im planning on talking to my midwife about because my anxiety has gotten fairly bad the last few weeks.

Just be sure to pay extra attention to self care and stress management. It's all you can do. If you feel like you don't have a great bag of stress management tricks, some things to try are yoga, meditation (if you're new to meditation I recommend the HeadSpace app for simple guided meditations), exercise, etc.
Stress can affect your baby. My cousin has weekly appointments because there has been a decrease of fetal movement which the doctor attributes to stress.
Re: Stress and baby- connected or not..?
Women in third world counties have a lot more stress than us and give birth to healthy babies.
And crying overnight? Why would that affect things more? I'm not understanding.
Either way, crying is not going to affect your baby.
