TTC After a Loss

After MC - Is this common?

Hi! I'm relatively new to the bump, I started lurking when I was told I was miscarrying on 6/22, one day after our first anniversary. Low and behold I had already naturally miscarried prior to that doctors assessment, on 6/19 @ 6+5. At which time all pregnancy symptoms just disappeared. My HCG levels were confirmed 0 on 7/3. I started having breast pains again on 7/7 and they haven't let up. My cycles are long, ranging between 35-45 days, so I'm still a good 6+ days out from AF. Took HPT yesterday and it was most definitely a BFN. I know it's possible to get pregnant quickly but I have my doubts that is what is happening in my case. Has any one had pregnancy symptoms show up 2 weeks after MC? Was it just mean trick or is there hope?

Re: After MC - Is this common?

  • I'm on my 4th post-d&e cycle and I've had what seemed like pregnancy symptoms on every cycle so far. Progesterone, which is present in your luteal phase, can cause these symptoms. That's why everyone on the board will tell you not to symptom spot.  The only way to know if you are pregnant is to take a test.

I recommend that you start bbt charting. It will give you a better idea of what's going on in your body, such as when (and if) you ovulate,  when to expect AF, and whether it is too early to test.

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

  • ^^^ this, all of this. After my CP last summer, almost every cycle I could swear I am having the same symptoms I was having when I was PG. I think I never really paid attention before. Now I am tracking BBT, CM and CP and using FF...sometimes these "symptoms" happen before I even ovulate. It helps me to realize when I actually have a chance of a BFP. Before charting, I would have taken a HPT today, at CD7. Now I know I'm just symptom spotting and since I haven't O'd yet, I won't waste my $$ on a test. I'm sorry for your loss and hope you see a successful pregnancy soon!

  • My new af symptoms are a lot like my pg symptoms. The trickery sucks.

  • I started get breast pain and my period was still over a week away, so I thought it might be a sign. Unfortunately AF showed up 5 days early, despite the fact I have always been regular (even after my first MC). You won't know until you miss your period. Don't count yourself out just yet. Hopefully you have your rainbow baby. Xx
  • @CarrieandRoy Your posts helped me so much when I was going through my miscarriage so I always look out for your responses. I noticed you hadn't been posting as much and was really hoping that meant you were moving on to a happier group here. :( So sorry you are still going through all of this!

I've definitely been having PG symptoms too and was getting my hopes up a bit but now reading this I'm afraid it's just my period about to start a few days early. I kind of want to take a test but am also really scared to be disappointed. Isn't all of this bad enough without our bodies playing games with us?!

  • @spatter1 -- I'm so glad to hear my posts helped you!  I've been more active on the TTC After 35 board, but I'm still on this one, too. I check out TTGP, as well.

Yes, the false hope makes all of this worse. I've been fooled by my body so much since the MC. I even got a BFP on my second post-d&e cycle that turned out to be leftover hcg. I'm vowing not to get fooled by symptoms this month. I think I've thoroughly learned my lesson.

I hope this month works out for you!  I'd love to see some BFP's around here!

  • @CarrieandRoy ugh I'm so sorry! At the risk of sounding like a child, it's just not fair.

Would love to see some BFPs for all of us very soon!!

  • Thanks for all your responses! You all grounded me some instead of floating away in my own thoughts. I am going to have to keep trying.
