I just read a few reviews and they said that people really liked the crib itself but that the mattress that comes with it isn't great. They all replaced it. If you're willing to get a different mattress, sounds like a pretty decent crib. Sorry, no personal experience with it.
I'm actually looking at IKEA cribs, too this is one I am considering. I have heard if you want to use a toddler bed option from a crib buy the toddler bed converion parts when you get the crib. IKEA cribs appear up to the safety standards for cribs from the reviews I've seen. I have a hard time spending several hundreds on a crib that will only be used until they figure out how to climb (most 2 years old seem to be pretty decent climbers!). IKEA cribs seem popular on the apartment therapy blog too.
I am planning on getting this crib if we aren't gifted a more expensive one, and as pp said most reviews were very positive but they did say they replaced the mattress that is supposed to go with it. If you buy a mattress elsewhere make sure you have measurements as I've seen people who buy any old mattress get pissed when it doesn't fit an Ikea crib!
We actually bought this crib a few weeks ago and love it! It looks really nice in person and the price is unbeatable. We decided to purchase a mattress elsewhere since ikea had some recalls this year, but the crib fits any standard mattress (just check the measurements). I was worried at first about this crib because I saw people spending hundreds so I felt really cheap, but we love it and it looks great. Also very sturdy. Gives us money to spend elsewhere on the nursery and start the college fund. Let me know if you have any questions or want some pictures of it!
My SIL has this crib and has liked it. Not sure if she got the same mattress though or changed it. I am planning on getting the Shermag Grayson Convertible Crib - White from Babies R Us
I didn't even realize it came with the mattress so we were already planning on buying a separate one. Glad to hear some good reviews. The price is incredible and it's such a cute crib!
I had this crib for my first baby and we will use it again for our second. Here is what I love: it is low to the ground so bending over to put a sleepy baby on the mattress was super easy even with mushy postpartum abs; solid construction never wobbly or loose joints even after my son was more active; easily converts to toddler bed.
We did switch it over to a toddler bed when my son was almost two b/c he started climbing out. He managed to get out once while it was still a crib, no injuries (another plus for it having a low profile).
Also, people tend to put so much weight and $$$ into choosing the perfect crib and most people I know didn't even use theirs until the baby was at least 3 months old. Get a good bassinet/co-sleeper/rock and play...whatever you choose that will be in your bedroom for the first few months. Save $$ on the crib.
