2nd Trimester

What is my Baby Eye Color

I went through a baby eye color predictor.

My eyes are hazel and my hubby's are brown..It says that my son or daughter will have 50/50 Brown or Hazel (heterozygous) or 99% Brown (homozygous)

I hope my daughter or son will have her dad's brown

Re: What is my Baby Eye Color

  • You don't need aneurysm colour predictor. Basic knowledge of genetics can tell you what colours your babies eyes are likely to be (barring any mutations). I knew DS's eyes were likely to be brown. DH has brown eyes (dominant gene, but with a blue recessive gene bc his mom has blue eyes). I have blue/green eyes (recessive x 2). Therefore, no matter what I gave DS, if DH's dominant brown was given, DS would have brown eyes.

  • FYI my dad has green eyes, my mother has brown, both have dark brown hair.. I have blonde hair and had blue eyes up till I got pregnant with my first, then they slightly changed to a grey/green. You can't go by that at all !
  • My husband has brown eyes. I have blue. My LO was born last November with one blue eye and one brown eye. Now they are brown with a blue ring around the outside. First of all- I think it's so amazing what nature does. Second- I didn't really care what color they were..I had a beautiful baby.

  • Actually the genetics of eye color are a bit more complicated than a single gene. You have to take into account both your parents eye color. And while I somewhat understand being curious, and I'm sure it's certainly fun to imagine your baby with different eye or hair color, you will find out soon enough. And watching him/her grow into those different characteristics will be the really fun part.

Yep, genetics are awesome. My Dh (and all his family ) have brown eyes, my dad, brother and sister are dark brown eyes.
I have green eyes (Thanks mom). Both my kids have my green eyes.
    Thank God for Raid.

You actually might  to really know until close to a year!  Some babies are born with light colored blue or grey eyes that change and darken as they get older.
  • Genetics are crazy! I'm Mexican with some European on my dads side. I have dark brown hair and eyes. My husband is PR black hair and brown eyes. My third child came out with blonde hair, pale skin and blue eyes.

Ditto. My husband and I are both brown eyed and dark haired. Our daughter is blonde and blue eyed.

  • Eye color is determined by more than 1 gene.  In fact, there are many that contribute, so it's not as straighforward as other traits.  Some say there are up to 16 different genees involved, so not just your punnett square.  There are 2 main genes,  but there is a huge spectrum of possibilities which is why it makes it fun!

  • I have blue, baby's father has green, I'd like for our son to have blue like mine, but 2 eyes that work perfectly are my main goal.

Has anyone used the photo morphing sites to see what your baby could look like? I know it's just for fun but I love playing around with them. I get so excited thinking about what he's going to look like.
