While I've lurked around a bit for quite some time for information purposes, I am new to the world of TTC and infertility. I have lupus and my Dr has told me I likely have PCOS, due to lack of ovulation and irregular periods. I am 34 and have only had regular periods while on the pill in college and briefly, for about 6 months during a time of being quite fit (which required a level of working out I was unable to maintain). There have been years (while not on the BC) that I have had upwards of 7 periods a year, but others I have had 1-3. I am about 20lbs overweight (despite running several days a week), which isn't desirable, but certainly isn't obese by any stretch.
My husband and I had been unofficially trying for awhile and I finally sought help this last spring. I have completed 2 rounds of Clomid without success, as confirmed by ultrasound and blood test. Because my husband travels for work and is gone 2/3 of the time, I was put on birth control for 2 weeks following the first round (100mg). It brought on a period on schedule. Following the second round of Clomid (150mg), I was put on Prometrium for 5 days. My period came about 1 week later than anticipated. Given the late start and my husband's work schedule, my doctor told me not to take the Clomid on day 4, as she had originally prescribed, but to take on days 15-19 (200mg), with hopes that it will stimulate ovulation for the my husband's time home at the beginning of August. I haven't been able to find anything that references starting a cycle this late. I'm operating under the assumption that I won't ovulate without the Clomid and that even a late start will stimulate the follicles. My doctor is known for being the authority in the area and I will never claim to know as much as a doctor regardless, but has anyone else ever experienced this?
Re: New - Starting Clomid on CD 15?
I have read about Femara. I would be open to trying it if my doctor was supportive.
