Baby Names

Name opinions

So this is baby number 3 for us we have a boy Isaiah Christopher and a girl Ivy alba. Both middle names are family names. For this baby we want to continue with the i. Totally get that's not for everyone but we like it. So now to the names for a boy Dh likes Isaac I think it's too similar to our sons name and I like idris. For a girl we both love ilaria but I'm worried people won't know how to say/spell it. It's an Italian name. Ok let me have it ladies! What do you think ?

I also think Isaac is too close to Isaiah and Ilaria immediately made me think of malaria. (Assuming I'm pronouncing it correctly in my head). Idris is okay I guess. Makes me think of Idris Elba.

    Other options:
    Ian
Edit: Removed Ivan, too close to Ivy.

    Iris
    Irene
    India
    Imogen
    Isabel/Isabella

  • Isaac and Isaiah are too close. I like Ian much better.

I think the girl name will lead to lots of pronounciation issues. I would go with Iris or Isabel instead.

  • Agree on Ian. I don't know many other boy names with I

    Would add to girl names:
    Irene
    Isla

  • I like Ian and Idris. For girls, I like Imogen, Isobel, Isla, and Irene. Not a fan of Ilaria.

  • Thanks ladies ! Yea I don't think ilaria is going to work for where we live as much as I love it I'm thinking I have to let it go too bad the English translation doesn't start with an I. It's Hillary in English . I'm also liking Ian now
  • Idris is awesome! I suggest Ingrid, Iris, Imogen, or Isla.

  • If you're religious, there are lots of great biblical I names for boys
    Ibrahim
    Ira
    Israel
Ignacio (I probably wouldn't go with Ignatius, it's a lot.)

    For girls:
    Imelda
    Iliana
    Ines
    Irene or Irena
    Isabelle/Isobel/Isabella

    EDD for #1: 3/19/17
  • I really like the girls name. It's pretty and unique. I like the first boys name.
  • I taught a boy named Idaris, which to me seems easier to say than Idris. I like Isabel for a girl.

Isaac is too close to Isaiah and I think your girl name will have pronunciation issues forever (I honestly have no idea how it's pronounced)

    Some suggestions

    Ivan
    Ian / Iain
    Ike

    Imogen
Iris (maybe too close/matchy with Ivy)
    Isa
    Isla
Isadora (Izzy or Dora for a nn)

It's pronounced i-la-ria the i makes the e sound if that makes sense. So e-la-rea when your saying it. I'm Italian so it's quite common but based on all your ladies suggestions I'm gonna let it go because I just think it's going to be hard to have a name like that where we live. Thanks again ladies !

See, I never would have pronounced the I as an E. Hope you can find another name you love!!

Completely didn't even think of that
  • Just have to say I'm in love with your DD's middle name - Alba. Wish I could use it but SO has a daughter named Abigail :(

I second all of this.  However, Illaria (at least the way I'm pronouncing it in my head) sounds like a sexually transmitted disease to me.  I think both of your other childrens' names are so cute that you'd be doing your 3rd child a disservice.
