How to get my 4 year old to eat veggies

my son seems to be stuck on the same foods and it's hard to get him to try anything new, especially veggies. Any ideas to make it easier to get him to try it? I've also noticed that he used to love certain foods when he was younger but now he thinks it's gross

Any advice?

Re: How to get my 4 year old to eat veggies

  • Sounds like my house and my 3.5 year old. I try using spices, steaming, grilling or just offering things over and over. I also put veggies in muffins or smoothies but I think it's key to keep offering them and having them see you eating them as well.

  • You just have to consistently offer them. Try making them a variety of ways. Like broccoli, I'll make it with cheese, cold cut style, or with a vinaigrette. My daughter's least favorite is probably cold cut style but she will eat them, with a veggie dip. We like to use a yogurt based one.
  • What foods does he eat? Maybe it can be incorporated? For example spinach in red sauce, I do steamed broccoli cut really small with garlic, oil and macaroni. Things cut small in rice like carrots. Also soup, pea soup, lentils, bean soups, potato. I put celery and carrots in most soup with other veggies.
  • I would just keep on exposing him to all possible kinds of vegetables. ALso the more he gets to watch you eat and enjoy vegetables the more likely he is to start willing to try as well! Just be patient.
