I went into Carters to pick up a few NB outfits blacked out and well 28 outfits later realized I may have over done it. :-) I noticed that they don't have the same type of sizing that other brands do. They have NB then 3 months and then 6 months. Is the three months the same as 0-3 months? The clothes look like they run a little larger so I'm wondering if the babies stay in the smaller sizes longer.
Re: Carters Sizing
I personally never liked seeing LO swimming in an outfit so I always had all the sizes (mostly just meaning preemie and newborn).
For my daughter who was 95th percentile in height, she outgrew Carters outfits when her age matched the size. At 3M we were putting away the 3M clothes. It wasn't until 18m clothes that she started to slow down - she wore 18m through about 20m but she has mostly grown out of 24m now and is in 2t-3t and turns 2 this week.

As others said, every baby will fit clothing a little differently, but as a general rule, Carters should fit up to the age on the tag. So when baby hits 3 months you will be looking towards boxing up 3m and getting out 6m.
DD was 6lbs 9oz at birth and newborn fit her a solid month, but she was also 3 weeks early. If term she may have lasted a week. After NB she stayed true to the outgrowing the size on the tag when she turned that many months old. Their clothing holds up really well and is one of my favorite brands.
