2nd Trimester

One ear gets plugged daily

Anyone having problems with sinus/ear drainage? I am 20 wk, and my right ear gets plugged daily, usually after I've drank something. It irritates me when I breath, talk, or read aloud. It eventually goes away, but wondering if anyone has found a trick for this?

Re: One ear gets plugged daily

  • No trick, but just wanted to reassure you since this is happening to me too. I haven't noticed what triggers it, but pretty much every day my right ears gets "a bubble" and it drives me crazy. Usually takes 30-60 minutes to clear. I'm just blaming it on all the extra blow circulation and swelling.

  • My left ear has been plugged for over a month can't find anything to get it unplugged. Hoping will go away soon.
  • I am having the same issues. I had a tough time with my sinuses before I was pregnant, but it is a daily (miserable) struggle for me now. My doctor told me it was okay to take Flonase (one spray, each nostril) on a daily basis and I try to keep saline spray on-hand too if it gets really bad. I feel constant pressure and congestion in my sinuses and my ears pop and get "clogged" throughout the day almost every day. I was told it was just another fun side-effect of growing a human being :)

  • That happens to me too. I'll hold my nose and sniff. That clears my ears very well.
  • Ok cool. I tried all my usual airplane ear-popping tricks but nothing worked. I guess just have to embrace it as it comes and goes by itself.
  • I have the same issue and it's been going on for over a month and the doctor told me it's my sinuses and I can't take a decongestant which she said it would help so I am kind of just dealing with it but it's so annoying!!!
