ultrasound confusion on gender

Hello ladies, I am new here but hoping I could have some opinions. I got a gender ultrasound at 20 weeks and doc is leaning towards girl, but the lines are rounded except for the one down the middle. Baby would not open their legs so it was tough I go for another soon, but I'm just wondering what you all think. Thanks!!

The 20-week scan is an ANATOMY scan.

Omg. I know what its called. But as a matter of fact they did my anatomy scan at 18 weeks and couldn't see gender so they did another scan at 20 weeks and this is what I got.

I don't really know anything, but... I thought it was 2 lines for a boy and 3 lines for a girl. So my guess would be girl! x

Ya its a tough call. My first doctor told me boy at 15 weeks when baby was spread eagle and then this doctor told me girl.

So either go back for another ultrasound in a few more weeks, or wait until the birth. We're not trained ultrasound technicians so there's no way for us to tell you anything.

They did another scan JUST because they couldn't see the sex organs? 

What a waste of resources.

I wish we were told at our anatomy scan what the sex of the baby was, but they don't so I paid to find out ! Kept my first pregnancy a surprise (: !

Not miserable at all just realistic. If her dr can't tell you the sex of her baby how is someone with no medical training suppose to tell her. Not to mention would you run up to a group of people in the mall and ask what sex the baby might be? Let me guess no.

She's asking for everyone's opinion.. Not our MEDICAL opinion. I'm sure she is aware that we aren't all doctors and I can guarantee she didn't post that picture with some belief that she would get a definite answer. This is supposed to be a forum were people can discuss things freely. She posted a picture and asked what people thought, what's wrong with that?! Run up to a group of people in the mall? Are you really trying to compare this pregnancy app to asking questions about pregnancy to random people in the mall?! lol you do realize that this is what the app is meant for, right? A tool to get support, feel connected and get informed..

Hate when people compare it to running up to a random group of girls (in this case at a mall). No one would ever do that with any of the questions/convos on here..

Holy geez. What do they make these forums for then if we can't post our questions?? I had names picked out for both genders either way. And no 'not knowing isn't the most terrible thing' but I try and help other mom's out here so I thought maybe someone might have the courtesy to take 2 seconds and say looks like girl or looks like boy instead of writing a paragraph of how stupid I am for posting a PREGNANCY question on a PREGNANCY forum. What's your ppls problem??

Oh and by the way everyone. I go for regular 2 week VAGINAL ultrasound checks because I am high risk because I lost my first daughter and I need to make sure my cerclage is still placed properly. So while they were checking that she quickly checked baby at 20 weeks to see if she could see gender, not really a waste of resources if I was there anyway.

Didn't know the bump police were on duty today! I personally don't prefer ultrasound guess me pix but there is no rule against it so who cares enough to criticize people constantly. More effort than its worth! All that time spent being negative would be time well spent elsewhere!

Please explain how it would be possible that another person would have already posted HER ultrasound picture. This isn't a general question, it's specific to her personal picture!

Stating scientific facts is not negativity. If the truth bothers you, maybe TB isn't for you and you might feel more at home on one of the other pregnancy forums.

Ugh...names like "bitch" are nouns, and not adjectives, but are still TOU violations. There is no requirement that only words that are adjectives can be against TOU and it's so weird and innacurate that that is the route you took to counter her.

Exactly my point. 'Name calling' refers to using a noun. If I remember correctly it says something in guidelines like saying someone is 'acting' a certain way is not name calling.

I'm not sure how to read the sonograms. I've just gotten lucky when figuring out that my son was a boy when I saw the images and then the tech or doctor confirmed it for me and explained it. My best suggestion would be to wait until your next sonogram and tell your doc or tech your questions and/or confusions. I'm sure they'd explain it better than me, but I agree with the guess that it looks like a girl.

On another note, sorry you had to deal with the unnecessary snark and rude comments. Please pay those ladies no mind. Good luck on your next appointments and I wish you a happy healthy pregnancy and baby
