Re: FFFC?

  • There have been days this pregnancy that I've had cartoons on from the time DS1 gets up in the morning, until dad gets home from work (aside from nap).  This week has been a little better since the exhaustion is lifting a little, but it's still way more than I would normally consider a flameful amount.

I do get on the floor and play with dd a little but not as much as usual.

My DD broke her arm and had surgery last weekend. I told my work I had to keep her out of daycare all week and needed to work from home...I technically could have sent her back, but just didn't want to come to work. She also watched a LOT of TV. I justified it by her needing to "rest".
  • I'm supposed to go to a reunion for an organization I was part of as a kid. It's all weekend. I'm dreading it and trying to think of excuses to skip it, even though I'd feel guilty not seeing old friends.

Also, I just had my first appointment with the MW, and I like her, but the experience left me really frustrated. She didn't listen for a heartbeat, but I didn't press it because she said she'd have me come back in a "week or two" for my first U/S. Get to the u/s scheduler lady, she says I can't come until July 27 at the earliest, but they can't fit me in until August 4. WTF? No heartbeat or US until almost 13 weeks?!?! I feel like crying.

Ugh! I went to a regular OB and got the same thing. Just an internal exam and scheduled me for an ultrasound in 2 weeks. A whole trimester with no visual confirmation or heartbeat check!
  • @cantobean and @LMMama that sucks! :( Sorry for both of you! Maybe the time will pass quickly!!!
  • *im on Mobil, waiting to get my car fixed sitting in the sun. So excuse any horrible grammar or spelling. I can't see, lol*

I'm sure I will get flame for this. Don't care though. I work full time. My mom watches my daughter for me. I'm very thankful. Every other week she goes and stays at my parents house (I'll drop her off Monday and pick her up Thursday) this week is a long one. I needed a sitter Saturday for a wedding and I picked up a shift for Monday. 7 days she will be gone. I wish I didn't have to send off to my parents or that they lived closer to me. I don't feel like a real mom. I feel I have trouble parenting.

I guess my confession is that I send my daughter every other week to my moms for 4 days. Just so I can provide for her. The off weeks my mom stays with me.

@MaybeMab-always heard it takes a village to raise a child, I don't know how you feel but be thankful you have your mom sounds like she is an awesome lady and a very important part of your DD life! I wish my mom was more involved with my son, its a struggle for her to see him once a month and we live in the same town.
  • @MaybeMab no shame doing what you have to do to provide for your family, mama! It's great that your mom helps you out like that.

I've been home the last 3 days with a sick dog and have had plenty of time to do chores, but I haven't done much of anything. When DH gets home I tell him I've been busy with work stuff but I'm really averaging about 2 naps a day.

I think that's normal for Internet forums? No obligations, be involved in what you want and ignore what you don't? No harm no foul and everyone is happy
  • Dh really wants to go to this thing tonight but he's also going tomorrow.... So I don't really want him to go and be gone the whole weekend

Anyways I am sort of glad and have no guilt in that he was home still when I got up and was throwing up this morning. He actually got to see more than me just feeling nauseated and he might actually feel bad. I think he has forgotten when it was like for me with dd
  • My entire house is like a CPS case waiting to happen and I'm seriously praying for this crap to let up for even just a week so I can do a thorough clean. 2nd tri, come on baby!

I side eye a lot of the gofundme accounts. I just saw one on Facebook for a girl who was trying to raise $1000 to drive back home for California because she moved out there and didn't like it. Totally judged her.

They are the worst!! I hate being hit up for money!

I get especially irritated when they're shared on FB online garage sale sites.  I'm already buying things used/cheap, why would I donate money to your stranger with a sob story that's not all that sad...

I hate that too. And I hate that people actually think that's okay (in this type of situation). Other circumstances I totally understand, and don't hesitate to help people out in devastating times.

Yes!! An acquaintance of mine posted one because he wanted to buy a high end bicycle. He works full time and makes as much money as I do. He wrote a sob story about how he was overweight and wanted to be a better and healthier father to his kids. I get it, but really? Buy your own bike.
  • I know there's a lot of worthy causes.. But in my eyes most gofundme accounts are like the panhandlers of the digital world. So annoying!

  • My house is a disaster. My toddler is a little tornado and I'm so exhausted. I nap when he naps instead of doing housework. My poor husband is probably wondering where his wife has gone. Although, I have been cooking dinner almost every night... That's really my only badge of honor in this pregnancy.

Same! A friend of a friend made one to send her to a yoga retreat in Costa Rica. Under the guise that she's a really good person who works hard and needs a break. Um, aren't we all?

Exactly!! I would love to take a vacation on someone else's dime. It just baffles me how people think this is okay and they "deserve" money from other people.

I liked this only because I can understand. I don't buy clothes secondhand UNLESS I know the person and know that they and their house are clean. Anything else though is totally fair game though, lol

I find it funny that people have this opinion. I mean, I never usually shop second hand unless it's for a costume or something. But it makes me wonder....is your house brand spanking new? Is your car brand new? Because both of these items can be considered "used" and "second hand" and have probably been handled and lived in much more than 1 shirt.

I've been "unfollowing" a ton of my friends on FB because they are either selling Jamberry, Thrive, 3D Lashes - you name it, they're selling it and I want no part of it.
The other day I got a PM from a girl I barely even knew in HS telling me about her great business that she didn't want me to miss out on. Don't think I am missing out on anything but maybe annoying the heck out of all my facebook friends :)

I'm not totally grossed out, but I don't like shopping at places like that. Unless it's for a costume I'm only going to wear once. Id rather just buy new when things are on sale and almost the same price.

Weird - a girl I went to HS with also sent me a PM on FB and was asking me if I lived in So and So, I was like yes! And then she proceeded to sell me her pitch on whatever she was selling - I never responded lol. Maybe rude on my part, but seriously I haven't talked to you in forever and then you immediately try to sell me crap - no thanks!

My own cousin made a gofundme with a sap story asking for money because her and her new husband battle infertility, they can't afford it & they want a baby.
Background...you don't battle true "infertility" when you can't get pregnant because your husband (whose nearly 20yrs older than you) chose to get snipped because he already had 4 kids with his last wife. None of which he currently has custody of.

And maybe that can be my FFFC for those who think I'm heartless for thinking she's a moron. Fwiw, nobody (including our entire family) donated a dime...and she made a long drawn out vent on Facebook that she was so disappointed because nobody would help them.

  • I live in the city so won't have a car until baby comes and I'll lease a car. I don't like having old cars - 3 years is good then I'll trade in for a new one. Nothing fancy, I just like to keep up to date. My apartment is actually in a brand new building but even in previous apartments, a cleaning crew comes in and thoroughly cleans and paints so everything seems brand new. I'll call them out if I see a scuff on the wall or if an appliance looks dirty and have them fix. I like everything to look brand new at all times.

  • Yea, I've seen that jamberry stuff. I don't get it. My friends are all 30+ years old, we aren't putting stickers on our nails - or at least, shouldn't be. Get a real manicure like a grown up or paint them yourself - it's so tacky.

Oooh, don't knock it til you've tried it. Are you sure you know what they are? They can be a solid color, they don't look like "stickers" once they're on, unless you choose something obnoxious. Mine didn't chip for over a week, I've never had that with a manicure.

That said, I also think selling anything on FB is annoying, along constantly sharing "crunchy" stuff, being hateful on either side of gay marriage, gun rights, etc I've unfollowed for all in the last month. I also unfollowed my mom because she's just constantly posting cute animal videos and positive thinking memes and I'm annoyed. Hoping after my hormones settle down I'll be able to add a few back in...

I HATE jamberry nails, for myself at least. I've tried them several times and just couldn't stand them. I have friends who use them and put them on where they look like crap and some where they look amazing. To each their own but I hate business soliciting on my Facebook..
