Middle Names for Carolyn

Hey, everyone!

My husband and I are currently thinking Carolyn as a first name for our baby girl, but we are stuck on middle names. I proposed Carolyn Diana, but he didn't seem too keen on that. We both like Carolyn Grace, but Grace is such a common middle name. Any suggestions (or pros/cons on Carolyn)?

Thanks!

  • My grandmother's name is Essie Carolyn, though she goes by Carolyn. It's lovely. I like Carolyn Grace, but I understand you don't want to give her a "filler" middle name. I'm one of the 80's kids with the middle name Lynn, so when I got married I had no problem dropping that generic middle name. Do you have any family names that you'd be interested in using?

Carolyn Elizabeth was the first name that popped into my head. Seems classic.

    Carolyn Eleanor
    Carolyn Patrice
    Carolyn Joyce
    Carolyn Mae
    Carolyn Abigail
    Carolyn Jeanette
    Carolyn Ruth
    Carolyn Amelia
    Carolyn Lucille
    Carolyn Marguerite
    Carolyn Brooke
    Carolyn Eve
    Carolyn Gail
  • Grace is so overplayed. Unless it is a family name, I would not use.

    Carolyn Faye
    Carolyn Jean
    Carolyn Ruth
    Carolyn Brooke
    Carolyn Marie
    Carolyn Jane
    Carolyn Pearl

Love your suggestions! Re: family names - I thought of Carolyn Esther (after my grandmother) or Carolyn Elaine (his mother's middle name), but my husband wasn't jumping up and down about those... We don't have any traditional names for girls in my family, unfortunately. Several boy names that are irrelevant now... ;)
  • @eliztheforrizz My thoughts exactly about Grace. Beautiful name, but it just feels like one of those names you stick in when you have no idea what else to put.

  • I like like Grace as a middle name because it is one of the virtue words that I love. It's more subtle in a middle name for me than as a first name, which sets the bar high for the kid (like the older name Patience)
