Weight gain... Help!

I'm a first time mom and at 30 weeks I've already gained 35 pounds and my nurse is advising me to diet. What do I do?! I feel hungry all the time but what are some healthy meals or ways to keep my weight down? Any advice would help!

  • Oddly enough this is my first pregancy of five that I have NOT gained....Not sure why, yes I have many kids, but we are not extremely active either, but not lazy. We eat mostly from scratch and NO corn syrup and VERY little sweetener. We use stevia, instead of sugar. Water water water, NO JUICE AND NO POP. Eat lots of salads, and add some nuts and half a chicken breast or your choice of meat. I do a small amount of cheese here and there, but dont make it regular, as cheese is a weight gainer big time. I know it sounds funny to say it, but make sure you are getting rest. That is HUGE for helping your weight stay managable. I have gained 6 lbs. in 36 weeks almost 37, usually I gain 55 to 60....

  • She just told you to diet with no other information to give you?  That seems irresponsible.  Ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist and advice.  Good luck. 
  • I wpuld go back to your doctor and ask how many calories they want you to have. I went to a weightloss clinic and had bypass surgery over two years ago and they told me I should have 1600 calories per day but that's just me. They could tell you a different amount.
