Still sore from c section

My son is 18 weeks old and I'm still having discomfort in my stomach muscles (maybe?!) from my c section. Is this normal so many weeks later?! I'm an overweight woman so I know they had to go through several layers to get in there. What is the typical healing time?

Re: Still sore from c section

  • My son is 15 weeks now and I'm still having pain and discomfort too. Sometimes I move and can feel my skin pull like its going to rip open and its hard to work out. I can't do some exercises that I used to be able to do. I looked it up and read that it could be nerve pain but I don't think mine is as severe as the description was.

I still have occasional discomfort and my LO is also about 18 weeks. It's usually after wearing her in the ergo for an extended period of time, or if I over exert myself. If it's bothersome, you might want to follow up with your OBGYN. Just a phone call, better to be safe.
  • My daughter is 17 weeks. I was very sore until a week or two ago. I found as I gradually increased my activity, my muscles seemed to stretch and began feeling more normal again. I still get sore if I bend over too much or lift too much. I think it's just normal. Our bodies have been through so much! As long as your incision healed ok, and your doctor said everything was ok at your check up, I think it's normal for complete healing to take a long time. Of course, if you're concerned, you should see your OBGYN just to make sure.
