hi All--just had our initial appointment in which they suggested the harmony DNA test in addition to some other genetic testing. I'm slightly confused though since I can't remember all the details--do people tend to have both the harmony DNA test in conjunction with the nuchal testing? Seems like there's some overlap in what they check for so wasn't sure. Thanks!
Yes! I did and it was "normal" at my doctor's office. Harmony is a blood test and the other is an ultrasound, so you're not doubling up on anything. You'll also get the sex super early!
The Harmony and other sequential screening tests while highly accurate can't give you 100% accuracy, therefore it's typically suggested you do both screenings, that way if the results don't align you can decide if you want to take additional testing measures.

I had the Illumina blood test last week and NT ultrasound tomorrow. The purpose seemed duplicative to me too but I think the US is used along side the blood test results in case of false negatives from the blood work.
I have an NT scan in a week (@12 wks along) with a genetic counseling appt. It's at that point when we will decide to do further testing or not. (Not sure what the next test might be.) Has anyone else done it this way?
I had the Natera test (Same as Harmony different company). It came back low risk for everything, so my doctor left it up to me if I wanted a nuchal. He said the DNA tests "trump" nuchals now because they have less false positives. We decided not to a nuchal.

Good to know. Thanks. Congrats on your good results!
