Weight loss trouble...anyone else?

Hi! My name is Jamie, I'm 19 and I had my LO about 9 weeks ago. This was my first pregnancy and I gained about 40 pounds (yikes!), I am dieting and exercising and I noticed my weight loss has hit a standstill at around 117 lbs. I started to lose a lot of weight quickly and now no matter what I do, I'm stuck!! Is anyone else having this issue due to hormonal changes and what not??

I attached a picture of my DH, my LO, and I below :)

  • Agreed with PP. I obviously have no idea your height to know what your BMI is. But you look to be a very healthy weight.
  • I'm 5'2 and my pre pregnancy weight was 100 lbs..that may be an unrealistic goal but I'd like to be around that number.
  • Thank you ladies!! I guess I just need to give it some more time!

This makes me want to cry :((
  • It's unrealistic to expect you can get can get back to your prepregnancy weight so soon. Take your time. It will happen.
  • Are you EBF? I'm in the same boat. I gained 50lbs and stuck with 15lbs to go. I was told breastfeeding mothers tend to lose the most weight between 3 & 6 months! Good luck!

    I hope this is true!
  • I gained 40 as well! EFB and thought it'd melt off, but I'm stuck at 120-116 with my healthy eating and light exercise. Prepreg weight was 101 and the only way I see that happening is very very strict diet mixed with...like...9-14hrs of gym a week. I'm not ready for such a thing. With my first baby I was back to pre weight by now, just had to re-tone.

If it makes you feel better, I'd love to be in your position.  I was 120lbs pre pregnancy, but despite eating well and working out during and post pregnancy, I still have 40lbs to lose (gained 60lbs while pregnant, so only 20lbs down and it's been 6 weeks since delivery).  My weight loss been at a standstill since 4 weeks post delivery.  I feel very discouraged as breastfeeding has done very little to help me drop any weight and I've been counseled to not do any aggressive exercise as it will hurt my already lacking milk supply. Feeling defeated :(
  • My baby is 13 weeks old tomorrow. I stopped breastfeeding at 6 weeks and stopped losing weight also (Not that I was losing much). I was stuck with 15 pounds to lose and FINALLY started seeing some weight loss. When I went back to work 4 weeks ago, I swapped my Starbucks Frapps for an herbalife shake in the morning. I have been using my Fitbit to track my steps and try to get as close to my goal if not exceed it everyday I work. I'm on my feet most of the day which is a huge help. I am now down almost 5 pounds in 2 weeks! Still can't button my prepregnancy jeans but I can get them up!!

Everyone is different! Just have to find what works for you and what makes you feel good. A couple outfits that weren't maternity have help with my self body image.

    This! :'(
  • I've been struggling with this too. My pre-pregnancy weight was 120lbs and I gained 25lbs with DS. I lost a lot of it right away, but the last 5lbs have been lingering even with EBF, healthy vegan diet, walking and doing yoga (+ back to teaching yoga). Working hard at accepting I need to be patient and celebrate that my body did an amazing thing by growing this sweet little life and giving birth to him. In time that button on my jeans will button and the muffin top will be no longer.
  • My husband is a beach body coach! He has helped me lose 50 of the 60lbs I gained during my pregnancy. Would anyone be interested in doing a challenge group? We could pick a beach body workout and all stay motivated together to lose our last pounds! Let me know if you're interested & I'll send over the info! Feeling excited!
