Woke up freezing in the middle of the night

Hello, a little scared to ask but I didn't see any other thread about this so I apologize if this has already been covered, I figured out that posting a question here that's already been asked is like a death sentence! I woke up last night to pee and was colder than I have ever been, complete body shaking to the bone freezing! I live almost in NH so it's far from cold here, not sure what could have caused this. When I woke up an hour or 2 later to pee again (I spend half my night in there these days) I was totally fine! Has this happened to anyone else? I seriously didn't know I could even ever feel that cold.

Re: Woke up freezing in the middle of the night

  • I'm 90% sure it's normal. Speaking from personal experience, this child has broken my body's ability to self-regulate my temperature. I overheat easily and end up shivering easily. It sucks.

  • I had this a lot the first trimester. I wore my winter coat at work all of April and May! Baby screws with hormones in all kinds of weird and surprising ways.
  • Ugh I have the opposite problem. I've been waking up sweating, but I expected that. The same happened with DS. I think our body temps goes crazy when pregnant and to me what you describe sounds fine. I'm in MA so our local temps are comparable. If you are worried or it continues ask your OB about it.
  • I almost wish I woke up freezing. I have been so HOT lately. Your body temp lowers when you're sleeping, so maybe that played a part? Not sure, though. I've never experienced anything like that.

  • I wish I woke up freezing. Last night I woke up in sweats and it made my sheet wet too. So uncomfortable. I'm sure it's nothing to be alarmed about. If it worries you more. Call your doctor. It doesn't hurt to ask questions
  • Hey, So a New Hampshire resident here! I don't know how much stock is actually in this (I could just look it up on Dr. Google but currently I'm far too lazy for that), but I went camping in the White Mountains about 2 weeks ago where I was complaining about being cold, but not wanting to get up to go trudge through the woods to pee. This is when I was informed on the crazy fact that apparently when you have a full bladder, your Temperature tends to run lower and you are colder because your body is focusing on keeping the urine warm. This could be utter bullshit but I think it sounds legit and enjoy passing this weird stuff on. (Shrug)
  • I get into bed and I'm freezing and then I wake up in a little pool of sweat.. Then I get up to pee and then I'm freezing again.. I think it's normal..

I second wishing I woke up cold sometimes. I can't escape this constant hot feeling I have. I'm so hot when I try to nap or sleep at night it makes me miserable.
  • Just make sure you're not running a fever. Otherwise I'm sure this is just normal pregnancy wackiness.
