We eloped, so no First Dance...But we have a few that we always play...Hey Leonardo (Blessed Union of Souls), Whatever You Like (T.I.), and Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison)...Why? Because there is absolutely nothing conventional about us...And I am the only brown eyed person in the family.
Have a Little Faith In Me by John Hiatt I heard it in "Raising Helen" and just loved it. I wanted something not well known, I didn't want the same song as everyone else. "Our" song is You and Me by DMB but it was really popular at the time and didn't scream first dance to me (we used DMB for our entrance song instead, So Right... We are HUGE DMB fans).
@bntfroggie we are "first dance" twins. I have no idea why we picked that song. I am an equal opportunity music lover but H was the difficult one, so he kept an eye out and decided this song was the best of all his options. So we used it. Sounds analytical but coming from my robot of an H, I was touched.
Our first dance song was "Steady as we go" by Dave Matthews Band. My friend/one of our bridesmaids sang it with her guitarist from her band at the reception as we danced. Still one of my favorites.
That was ours too! I love Dave and I like how it wasn't so mainstream
Okay, so no one laugh, but our first dance was...."I Wanna Grow Old With You" by Adam Sandler, from the Wedding Singer movie
That's awesome! I wanted "Stricken" by No Doubt but the hubby vetoed it. So we played it at the end, 2nd to last (last was a small mosh pit with our college friends to Andrew WK's "She is Beautiful).

I loved that it wasn't mainstream and it kinda fit perfectly with life.
I had Jason Evigan's cover of Cinema by Benny Benassi. I heard it and fell in love with it instantly.
@labacker I love that song -it was in my wedding playlist!
We danced to an R&B song by Avant featuring Keke Wyatt "You And I." Perfect song for us, right up our alley stylistically and lyrically - we probably lip synched to each other half the time we were dancing!

I played this for DH (he's never seen The Wedding Singer...whaaaa??) when we were choosing songs. I LOVE IT. He wasnt a big fan

We had a destination wedding, but still did a first dance since we had so many family and friends join us. Ours was "God gave me you" by Blake Shelton.
DH and I danced to "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis. Picking a song ended up being the hardest wedding thing for us to agree on...haha! I wanted a classic like Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight", he wanted something more original. Elvis was a compromise...
We danced to the Ingrid MIchaelson version of "Can't Help Falling in Love!"
We couldn't choose just one, so we danced to "Air That I Breathe" by The Hollies for our first dance, and played Ingrid Michaelson's cover of "Fools Rush In" for the last song at sunset. I didn't cry all day, but that got me! This is what it looked like that day....
I had Jason Evigan's cover of Cinema by Benny Benassi. I heard it and fell in love with it instantly.
@labacker I love that song -it was in my wedding playlist!
Still makes me tear up whenever I hear it!!! I'm such a sap.
We danced to "Can you feel the love tonight" by Elton John. We are both Disney fanatics and wanted to take a song from a Disney movie, we thought of Lion King right away. It was perfect.
That was our first dance song too! I love all things Lion King (have you seen the musical? It's fantastic) so DH knew that was the only option and he was totally cool with it.
Our first dance was "Looking for Love" by Mul-Ty. We didn't pick the song. My dj fell through last mintue and my sister in law found some guy who did a terrible job and just picked a song. But the song was a great pick and the lyrics were great.
Ours was Stay With You by John Legend. We just loved his music and went to a concert of his shortly before we got engaged! One month before our wedding, my hubby's cousin got married and they used the exact same song for their first dance.
Ours was Dream a Little Dream of me by Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby.
The first time my husband and I ever went home to our separate families he sent me the lyrics before I went to be.
"Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you. Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you. But in your dreams, whatever they be, Dream a little dream of me."
I had never herd the sone and just thought it was something his family had done when I found out and finally listened to the entire song it just kind stuck and that was it.
Planning my wedding at the moment... We plan on using an acoustic version of mumford and sons - I will wait... The reason for choosing this song is because I love their irish/folk sound... and we both did some waiting for each other at some point or another. So its rather fitting for us, and I didn't want to corny or common first dance song.

You know when you just have one of those moments and you think 'I really just need to cry out my shit'. I will purposely put on my wedding playlist and cry it out sometimes..
No dancing. We got married in a Baptist Church. We had "I Swear" sung at the wedding. I prefer the "All-4-One" version, not the JMM version. Does that count as my "first dance song"
Aww that was my wedding song as well and yes All 4 one version is better Ever since I was really young I knew that would be my wedding song.

We didn't dance as we had a backyard bbq in the South. We live in NYC where the average wedding costs $80,000- no thanks. We did hit a wedding cake piñata to kick off our party and I walked down the aisle to fiddle of Allison Krauss When You Say Nothing At All.
Loving all the country, indie, and old school tunes people chose! :-\"
We danced to "Stuck on You" by Lionel Ritchie. Not usually a big fan, and it is a pretty old song, but one night when we were out, a band played it, and I'll never forget looking into his eyes, and seeing how much he loved me so it was decided!
We danced to this version of this song too. DH sang the Elvis version to me drunkenly at karaoke one night, but I couldn't bring myself to pick that version. We were originally going to do "Something" by the Beatles, which we still consider "our song", but the second I heard the Ingrid Michaelson version of this song I loved it, so I changed it somewhat at the last minute.

We danced to Madeleine Peyroux's version of La Vie en Rose, when DH and I were first living together it was the song he used to play to wake us up in the morning.
DH & I are country fans so we chose "Wanted" by Hunter Hayes... We were also thinking of "When you've got a good thing" by Lady Antebellum but DH was adamant not to use it ONLY because it says "barefoot beauty with eyes so blue" and my eyes are brown! LOL
Ours was "Give in to me", a song from the Country Strong movie soundtrack. We have a lot of songs, but this one gives us both butterflies when we hear it and truly seemed fitting because of our story I can't listen to it often or I start crying lol.
