After trying for a baby for ages, me and my husband finally conceived. I was so excited I rang up the doctors for an appointment and raced there the next day. I expected him to be ecstatic for me lol but he just gave me a number for a midwife. Didn't even ask me to do a test. I got an appointment at 6 weeks just to fill out paper work. Then went back at 8 weeks for my urine to be tested (not for pregnancy) Im now 10 weeks and have my scan appointment coming up. Has anyone else's local hospital/midwife just took your word that you are pregnant as no one has actually asked me to do a pregnancy test. I'm scared I will go for my scan and nothing will be there. All though I did lots of tests myself. I have hardly any symptoms. Slight nausea 6-8 weeks but that's subsided now. Am I just worrying too much? Lol
Re: Midwives Taking your word that your pregnant
I'm based in the UK but had the same experience - went to doctors thinking they would confirm it 'officially' but they just took my word for it. Said two positive home pregnancy tests sounded good. Have now been for two appointments with the midwife and they have only just taken my blood and urine for normal tests (that was 10 weeks!). My first scan isn't until I'm nearly 13 weeks and I couldn't wait that long, so we went for a private scan last week.
I hadn't had much in the way of symptoms so the private scan just put my mind at rest!
Baby looks fine and looking forward to seeing him/her again in a few weeks.
This is my first pregnancy but I guess everyone is different - now instead of worrying about a lack of symptoms I'm just enjoying things.
