Any scheduled inductions?

I was just curious how many of you are having scheduled early inductions? I found out at 31 weeks that I would have to deliver between 37-39 weeks because I am an insulin dependent diabetic. Still hoping to go into labor on my own but as of today we will be scheduling an induction during week 38 (last week of July). My biggest fear is that the induction will lead to a C-section. Anyone in the same boat?

Re: Any scheduled inductions?

  • I was told around 30 weeks I would have my daughter between 38 and 39 weeks...if I don't go naturally by then.

Unless our little guy comes sooner, I will be induced at 37w (July 22nd), due to pre-eclampsia. I already had both steroid shots a week & a half ago.

Yes, I have a scheduled induction at 39 weeks, the last week in July. I'm also nervous about it not working and needing a c section.

I don't have the option for induction since I had a csection last pregnancy. My best bet would be to go into labor on my own.

My friend did have scheduled induction and all went well. It doesn't always lead to csection. Hoping the best for ya'll...
  • I have a scheduled induction at 39 weeks, on Aug 3rd. Hoping I go into labor on my own though.
  • I am being induced at 38 weeks on July 22nd due to high blood pressure and very large baby! I'm hoping to go into labor on own. Have another growth scan Friday so hope to know more.

Due to my baby being big and having a big head like her father, and me having GD, I will be induced wk 39..most likely will be a C-section depending on her growth till then. Won't get to do skin to skin thing for the first hr because since I have GD, she will be wheeled off to the observation area to check her sugars for a hr. Not to happy about that, but whatever, as long as my baby is safe. And anyone else with GD, same will happen to you if your docs haven't told you yet. Just found this out today and it made me really sad =(
  • I was induced at 37 weeks (well induction was commenced but they didn't need to go down the pitocin road) and delivered vaginally with minimum intervention. Just so you know it can happen! Of course it depends on your situation, but it's nice to be able to share a positive story...
  • I just scheduled my induction today, for August 4th, due to Cholestasis. I am hoping it goes well, but I also have to start dilating at least a little on my own for them to do the induction as I had a c-section with my first, but a VBAC with my 2nd.
  • I'm in the same situation (being induced 37-39 weeks) due to type 1 diabetes and complications that come with it. I'm nervous but my doctor said I'm not the first type 1 diabetic to do everything I can for good control and still need this but at least they know how to handle it. I'm glad I love my team of doctors.
  • Doctor told me I'll get induced August 6th at 39 weeks. My 1st born was full term but tiny baby. So he said it doesn't make since if I go over 40 weeks. So I hope she comes outs sooner. She's already in the labor position and I'm starting to get soft. So who knows. I'm just hoping and keeping faith everything comes out good and the baby too
  • Dates not set but I'll be induced between weeks 37 and 38. High BP and GD. I had to be induced at 39 weeks with my first and it went very smoothly. Hoping the same with this one and with your experience.

  • I'm scheduled at week 36.5 (7/20) for induction due to a placenta abruption at week 30. At this point, I'm not caring how she comes out but would obviously prefer a vaginal birth. If a cesarean is necessary then I'm ok with it. I am mentally prepped for anything since I've had plenty of boring bed rest days to think about it
  • Yup, scheduled induction at 38 weeks 1 day... July 29th... Baby boy is large already (over 6 lbs) and he has a two cord vessel...
  • Because I am older (38), they want to induce.  During my last pregnancy (age 35) they wanted to induce at 39 weeks, but I said no and I went into labor naturally on my due date.  This time it will depend on how my growth scans and NSTs go... :-(
I do not want to be induced if possible.

My baby is small and I have been diagnosed with IUGR. I will be induced around 38-39 weeks if I don't go early. My doctor is being flexible since I have previous history of this as well as have delivered on my own with my previous two pregnancies. She just told me I would not be allowed to go to full term at this point and so I am hoping to go naturally on my own.

  • I have also been told that I need to be induced at week 38/39 due to the insulin needed to control my GD. But my gynecologist said that it doesn't have an impact on whether or not a csection will be necessary. We are going to try vaginal birth and see how it goes
  • I'm having a scheduled induction at 34 weeks on July 18 due to Pprom and a chronion amnion separation which has caused iugr with my little one. Preparing for a preemie.
  • I am waiting to find out if I'll need to be induced around 38-39 weeks.  We recently found out baby has a minor heart defect and depending on how she's doing tomorrow at our appointment and what the peds cardiologist thinks next week, they may schedule an induction.  Mostly so that I will deliver at the facility with the specialists and NICU in case baby needs extra care after delivery (it's 2 hours away from home).  I'd love to go into labor on my own, wait until she's ready to come, and deliver at the hospital in my home town where I feel comfortable.  But I know that if the doctors feel like being at the larger hospital is what's best for baby that's what I'll do.  Hopefully even with the induction, I'll be able to delivery vaginally.
  • I was induced at 40w3d with my daughter. Induction was with pitocin at 7am, water was broken by doctor at noon, epidural at 1ish, started pushing at 7:30 PM, deivery by forceps at 8:30PM (due to position of baby and heart rate issues- I never quite got the details). I am grateful that my doctor was proficient with forceps and she didn't jump to a c-section. It was hunky dorey.
  • I so appreciate those of you sharing your positive experiences with induction in the past! Praying all goes well for us all!

I have GD and have asked about what they will be doing with baby right after birth. Barring any crazy, unforeseen emergencies, he will be placed right on my chest after birth and they'll check his blood sugar and monitor him while I hold him. So no, the same thing isn't going to happen to everyone who has GD. Especially if you've kept your sugars pretty level which prevents the baby from having issues with his/her sugar dropping significantly after birth from over producing insulin.

My induction is scheduled for Aug.3rd too lol. She will be 38 weeks though
  • I am scheduled for 38 wks induction due to HBP and a large baby girl. I will be induced 2 days before wk 38 so Aug 7 th
  • I was induced last time at 39 weeks in part because the baby was projected to be huge. (She turned out to only be 7lbs 10oz). I went in the night before to start with the cervix softening stuff, my OB broke my water around 8:30am, I was dilated to a 10 by 1:30, pushed for about 20 minutes, and the baby was in my arms at 2:00!

  • If I don't have a c section before or baby comes before due date I will be having an induction at 39 weeks due to being large.
  • I was induced for medical reasons with DD1 and DD2 very last minute (but past 40 weeks). We scheduled DD3's induction for August 11th yesterday- I have no fear going in, my other two inductions were no worries even with a terrible Bishop's score with DD1

  • I have been induced with my previous four, for four different reasons and not one resulted in c-section. Also have a scheduled induction for #5 at 38w4 days.

I swear there was supposed to be a ask if the same thing will happen to you if your docs hasn't told you yet. - I was kind of distracted while writing sorry !
I know each hospital has their own protocols. Unfortunately, this is my hospitals protocols and it makes me really sad =*(
