my recent ultrasound show I have a velamentous cord insertion. Can anyone who has had this condition please share from your experience? I'd love some more information, advice, and encouragement. Thanks!
Did a csection on a woman at 36 weeks with this. She had twins and they were malpositioned so that's why we did the section. We had no clue of the velamentous insertion (of both the umbilical cords!) Until removal of the placenta. She was told she was very lucky she didn't deliver vaginally because of the high risk of rupture. Wish I had more info!!! Keep us posted!
I've been diagnosed with this too. My doctor said that the most important thing is that they found it so they can track baby's growth more closely and manage the delivery appropriately (I was already going to have a c-section though so that is no change). It freaked me out at first but I'm thankful they found it and happy to have the extra ultrasounds.
