Velamentous Cord Insertion

My recent ultrasound showed a velamentous cord insertion. Can anyone who had this condition share about your experience? I'd love some more information, advice, and encouragement.

    Hi SchaferCircus,

    I was just told I have this too. (I just had my anatomy scan last week.) Apparently, it's rare. I have an appointment with my OB in about two weeks so I'm hoping to find out more information. The doctor at Maternal Fetal Medicine (the one who diagnosed it) told me not to lose sleep over it and wants to see me back in 4 weeks. She said issues with growth can be a problem. Did you hear anything different?

    Of course I googled it when I got home that day. I don't suggest it! I believe as long as it was detected early, we will be ok. My cousin is a labor and delivery nurse and said it could be dangerous. An early C section might be he end result.

    Curious to hear if your doc gave you anymore information than mine.
