Don't mess with my food, lady RANT

I was sitting at work today deciding what I wanted for dinner and I really REALLY didn't want to cook so I ordered dinner at longhorn streak house. I was SO excited to go pick it up, sit on my nice comfy couch while stuffing my face, watching some Netflix so I called and ordered it. I got there my hubby's dinner was cooked and ready but MINE they didn't bother make because the cook "didn't see it" on the ticket. When I asked them how long it would be for them to make it...20 FRICKEN MINUTES!!! Yes 20 minutes to cook a meal that should have already been made. I live about 30 minutes outside of town so it would be about 50 minutes before I got home. I WAS so upset I almost started crying over food. (I know it's a bit ridiculous but Im pregnant and hungry so what could I say) I then proceeded to pay for my hubby's meal and leave with nothing for myself. Here I am hours later and I'm still upset about it. How dare they?????? A direct attack on a pregnant women's food!! I'm sure they didn't know I was pregnant but I do and it matters!

*please note: I know how ridiculous this is but I love eating

I can somewhat relate, during my last pregnancy, I drove away from the Dunkin drive through in tears because they ran out of cinnamon raisin bagels.

    Yours is way more serious!!

  • A steakhouse once brought me an incredibly rare- the damn thing was practically mooing- steak last pregnancy. I was like 21 weeks and starving!! SO thought I was going to march back into the kitchen! I can't lie- I almost did. I sat in the car later and cried... So he took me for ice cream to cheer me up!

Last night, SO waited until all the stores were closed to eat the last of my vanilla ice cream. He poured maple syrup on it too, making sure I wouldn't have any of it. I ugly sobbed for at least ten minutes, told him he was staying on the couch, and went straight to bed.

It should be illegal to mess with a pregnant woman's food.

    Edit: phone loves autocorrect.

  • I'm not quite there yet but I'm sure it's coming. With this baby NOTHING sounds good so if I'm in the mood to eat something and you touch it, RUN

I flipped out on my husband because he grabbed part of my peach off of my plate and ate it at dinner last night. Why couldn't he go cut up his own peach? He said he didn't want a whole peach and didn't think it was a big deal to take part of mine. I've had a really hard time balancing my meal carbs/protein- which is required to control my gestational diabetes- and he messed up my carb count by taking part of my peach!
  • Luckily this hasn't happened. My SO has sufficient fear of what would happen should he try. Also a fortune teller told him that anyone who denies a pregnant woman's craving will get a sty on his eye. (Odd, but I'm not complaining)

  • It does not stop with pregnancy, unfortunately. When DS was about two weeks old, I wanted Shrimp Alfredo from Tony Roma's, so we called in the order for pick up and I headed out to go get it. By the time I get to the parking lot, it is pouring rain and there is no parking within a two block radius. I called DH in hysterics and just sat there in my car and cried for a good five minutes. No shrimp alfredo for me that night.
  • My one indulgence of seafood is shrimp. One time per week. Sweet DH drove to our neighboring city to pick some up since the only place in our town that serves it was closed. Soon, people realize it is for their own benefit to just let a preggo have her food.
  • I just flipped out on a waitress who told me that she couldn't make a substitution I wanted. In the end, she did it lol

  • Omg I have so many of these stories from my first pregnancy. This time around, we ordered subs from a pizza place. I was so excited for my steak sub. I had salad first but hubby just ate his sub. When I went to go eat mine, I took a bite and realized it was his gross sub I don't like. I look over and he's literally got two bites left of my sub. I cried lol
  • I honestly would've cried.... No joke
  • Lol I had a similar thing happen to me in the beginning when I was maybe 7 weeks and was still getting that gaping hole in my stomach, I'm going to pass out or die if I don't eat right now feeling whenever I got hungry. I was at Mimi's cafe and not only did they not see my ticket, but they only had one cook that was brand new and he said it would be about 30 minutes, turned out to be 50 but I was dedicated since I had already paid, and needed my chicken lol. When they finally gave me my food half of the order was wrong, but I was too hungry to care. Honestly the whole time I was sitting there waiting for the food I was half praying I would actually pass out in their waiting area so that they could feel nice and guilty about being completely incompetent with a pregnant woman's food lol.
  • We took a mini-vacation the past two days. Got a good deal on a 3-star hotel but it didn't include breakfast. Our son woke up at 7:00 and really wanted to swim so we went to the pool and swam for an hour or so and then went back to the room and packed up. By then I was starving.

We went to one restaurant that was closed and two more that were wall to wall packed.

I was shaking and crying by the time we got to the second restaurant. Finally got a bagel at Panera Bread at around 10:30! It was awful!!

I called Taco Bell a "Dog and pony show" and "criminally farcical" because my crunchwrap supreme was all cheese on one side and all beef on the other. They're supposed to be mixed. THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE MIXED!

Today I got frustrated because onions kept falling out of my 5 Guys. My phone has tear stains on it because i just kept getting angrier and angrier.

I mean it's not asking a lot, right? I don't have ANY cravings at all. I have ZERO interest in most foods other than fruit and Tim Horton's coffee. When i DO want food, I really feel like i earned it. And when i want to eat something substantial, I load the hump like a camel. It's a special day. It's an event.

And to screw that up? Some people have no souls, man. No souls at all.
  • I bought 10 packets of girl guide cookies because I had a random craving for some. Husband has already eaten 7 packets in about 2 weeks. I've had to hide the remaining ones as he cant be trusted around cookies or chocolate. These cookies are only sold during June and have all sold out.

    Not. Happy.
    :(
  • I'm laughing so hard at all of these but I'm just as guilty.
Maybe this is God's way of preparing our partners for a toddler. You know... the irrational, overblown tantrums. =))
  • My SO made the mistake of touching my food ONCE I had him trained but y me asked him to clean out the fridge and he wound up eating MY LEFTOVERS BECAUSE he thought I didn't want them, including my birthday cake, REALLY MY BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! Silly boy slept on the sofa the rest of the week, and he can't sleep without "his girls" (me and his daughter who's in my tummy) I locked the bedroom door so he didn't try to sneak in.
  • I have hg and barely eat. I called the Amish market and asked if they had the cream of potato soup. They had ONE quart left. Asked to put it on hold and drove there. Within five minutes they sold it!!!! I broke down infront of Annie, who is a mom of 8 and got it! She made a batch and had four quarts for me the next day! Lol!

    Former waitress frowns at you!

Seriously ladies, I know we're all absurd these days but at least TRY to not take it out on hapless employees.

I haven't had any tears over food moments but if my husband says "all right let's get food" and dawdles any, oh boy do I pester. "I AM GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH LET'S GO."
Is heartily apologizing to her child in advance for genes that predispose them to shitty vision and being Too Damn Tall.
  • @nik6499 hate to be the Debbie downer her, but the waitress you just flipped out on doesn't make the policies, the restaurant does

Want to make a PSA (as a server, bartender and restaurant manager). BE NICE TO WAIT/BAR STAFF!!! The job is extremely trying and they work hard. They have rules they have to follow and cannot always provide what you want. If you have a true problem with it, speak to management. And give your server 20%. Always. At least.
