unnecessary baby items

So DH and I were walking through the baby section at Target to get a few things and they have a baby Kurig. Apparently it mixes the formula and water and warms it all at the same time. I was thinking "who in the world needs that? It's completely unnecessary." My thought? Do it the old fashioned way. Mix it up yourself and if you need to heat stick the bottle in some hot water. What unnecessary baby items have you run across?

  • This may be my UO early but I think high chairs are useless, both of my kids learned to eat by either sitting on the table, in my lap, or in the chair right beside mine. If I needed something else taking up room in my house I'm sure I could find something much more useful..

  • Check out the amazon reviews for the sugar free Gummi bears too. I laughed so hard!

My aunt didn't use wipes on her babies, she actually used wash clothes for the first 2 months. Then they went into a bucket to be washed. She was worried the wipes would hurt their butts. Talk about a waste

This isn't a baby item, but I had a good laugh at the grocery store the other day when I saw "juice box holders" that were literally just plastic things you slide the juice box into with handles for your kid to hold. Since when can kids not handle holding a juice box?! Seriously??

My ding dong kids squirt juice on themselves EVERY TIME they use a juice box!! I even flip up the flaps and tell them to "use the handles."

The Amazon review for "3 wolf moon t shirt" is the absolute best yet. Just FYI

Never mind I see that this was already mentioned!!!

It could be useful I guess but it totally freaks me out! Has anyone seen the floaty thing that goes around baby's neck?! Can you imagine walking into a pool and seeing a bunch of floating baby heads!! Nope. Nope. Nope. I'll pass! [-X

    How is that even safe...
  • Alright I'll step up and admit it.... I want one of those baby brezza formula pro's! This will be our second child and if you choose or need to formula feed, anything that makes those late night bottle making/warming quicker and easier- simply rocks.
  • My husband registered for a grape slicer. You line all these grapes in a little tube and push down a button and it cuts them all into quarters. He was very upset when I removed it :|

This would actually have came in handy in my daughters 4k class we had to cut the grapes in slices so they wouldn't choke when eating them.
  • Wipe Warmers... It seems like the baby would get used to a nice warm wipe on his/her bottom, and then, you have to change a diaper out in public with regular cold wipes and the baby wouldn't like it as much.
  • I'm dying silent laughing in my snoogle in the dark with an iPhone and Amazon reviews.

Anyone else that's bored, look up the Amazon reviews of the Haribo sugar free gummie bears... Hilarious =))

I was crying laughing reading those and my husband thought I was crazy. Those reviews were fantastic.
  • Have any of the FTMs bought the baby bottle sanitizer/steamer things? The actual name escapes me. I was planning on just boiling water in a big pot and using that to sanitize the bottles, but my MIL (going off what my SIL did last year when she had her little one) suggested I get that. I personally don't see the point but thought I'd ask if I'm in the minority.

I was told that you don't need to sanitize bottles. I am just planning on washing them with hot soapy water

If you have a dishwasher it should get hot enough to sterilize the bottles.

Anyone else ever seen those banana slicers? I guess a paring knife or fingers is just too hard? Lol

Have you read the Amazon reviews? I cried I laughed so hard!
OMG Thank you! My morning needed laughter :))
  • I always boiled my bottles in hot water.

  • I also think that the baby boy teepees for their boy parts are a waste! My friend bought like 12 of them

I'm a FTM, so this is just an observation rather than experience, but can't you just use a wipe??
  • @ChristyM87 @Seh114 That makes life a lot easier. I don't know why I didn't think about just using the dishwasher...
  • My dishwasher claims to be fancy and have a sanitize cycle so that's what I'll be using. Thanks for bringing up bottles- I should probably get on washing those in case LO doesn't like my boobs. :D
  • I loved the microwave sanitizer bags for sanitizing my pump parts in the beginning when I was pumping constantly and couldnt always wait for the dishwasher. Past that and for the occasional travel, they weren't necessary.

Even if BF goes great you may just want to pump a little so you can have a night out, or a night where you sleep and DH does the 4am Feeding here and there

    WTF? lol
  • Lol I received 3 of the mentioned items for shower gifts: sterilizer, formula pro and wipe warmer. I used none of these things with my daughter who is 10, and I survived just fine. I actually may wait and see how/if these items make my life easier before I decide to return them. I plan to BF, but never really knowing it will work so the formula pro could make things easier I suppose..
