Separation anxiety?

I've been a stay at home mom since my daughter was born she is now 5 months old. This past weekend my hubby and I went out for the first time and she spent the night with my mom. Ever since she will only let me leave her if she's sleeping if I get more than a few feet away she screams until I come back it's even worse if I leave the room. Situations have changed and I will be returning to work soon but now I'm concerned about this new outburst. My mother told me she didn't whine for me while I was gone and did very well the whole time so I'm confused! If you have any ideas on how to better the situation as she will be going to a babysitter please help!
Thanks

It is around this age when they do experience separation anxiety.  Also, I want to say around 5 months they go through another mental development leap and that can lead them to be clingy as well.  Just time and routine seem to help kids be more willing to stay with other care givers.  My older two girls went to daycare so we experienced that, but it just took awhile for them to get into the routine that Mom or Dad will be back after work.
