Breastfeeding and saggy breast

is it normal for your breasts to become saggy whole breastfeeding. I still exclusively breastfeeding all day with the occasional bottle if I have to run an errand. Also for some reason it seems like my milk supply is low especially when I try to pump. Is this normal?

Re: Breastfeeding and saggy breast

  • Maybe it's just from emptying out? Mine feel a little empty/saggy when LO has been cluster feeding for a while but they get firm again when she goes a little longer between feedings (filled with milk).

  • Ok I'm hoping so. He has been cluster eating sometimes, so I think that is it.

  • If baby is eating healthily then yes, your breasts can seem to 'deflate' a little bit but it doesn't last forever.

A pump is not as effective as a nursing baby, so if it seems like you aren't getting much it's most likely because it just doesn't work like nature. The best thing to do is nurse as much as possible on demand, lots of skin to skin contact, and nursing through the night.
